Is this something I could fix myself?

My son ran his bike into the side of my boat and whacked it with the sharp metal part of his handle bars. it made a small gash about the size of my pinky thumb nail. My question is could I fix this myself or should I take it into a boat shop to be repaired? Here is a photo, remember it is pretty small but looks alot bigger in the photo. Upload

Get a gelcoat repair kit. Easy fix

Really? I have never done anything like this how easy is it? I mean to match the pain up and stuff?

Color can be hard to match... If it were me I would take it to a shop. Go to your dealer and ask who they use for gel coat repair, then ask to see some of thier work.

Matching the color will be the hardest part but if you get a patch paste kit you could do it yourself but having id done by a gel coat repair dept. would be the best.

Where is the damage? Maybe a gel coat repair kit and if the color is off (which it will most likely be) then put a sticker over it.

You can play with the color until you get it right. Just don't add the hardener until you have the color match.

The damage is a sticker would not look normal there. It really does not need to be fixed right away as it does'nt effect the boat but I just like my things looking nice. Just curious, how much do you think it would cost to just take it in and have a repair shop fix it?

spend the 50-60 bucks and have it fixed by a pro. yellow is hard to match.

I get mine fixed by people that know what they are doing. Do it yourself and you will look at that mismatched fix everytime you see your boat. That would drive me crazy.

yellow is IMPOSSIBLE to match. Take it somewhere. If it was any other color, I would say try it yourself.
