I am looking @ getting an 03-04 Sierra Denali and I am wondering what peoples experiences are with the Quadrasteer system....
so far I have heard nothing but good things..........
also what kind of mileage can I expect from the 6 liter while not towing in mixed driving.......

I am a tech at the biggest dealer in the North west and we have yet to have any problems with that setup.

My Dad has an 03 6.0L with QDSTR and I think he gets around 12-15mpg... He's turned about 90K on it and its runs just like the day he bought it brand new! They are fantastic trucks...

I had an 04 Crew cab 1500hd with quadrasteer and a 6.0. I really miss that truck. Never had a problem, but I only had it for about 30k miles.

My brother inlaw has a 03 Denali But I think its a 2500 with Quadrasteer and it pulled my boat great. It still runs good

Had a buddy with a 1500 hd with quadrasteer and I gotta say that truck turned better than my car. The only bad thing is where the rear steering rods are located. We were about 5 hours from home doing alittle camping and climbing and as we were leaving we had to go through a little rut in the dirt road. It made it down just fine but on the way out somehow the rear steering rod broke. As we inspected closer the rod is out in the open and looks like it could happen pretty easy. I must say that thing looked pretty funny on the tow truck. It looked like his truck should have been towing the tow truck.

Why did they stop making them. It seems like a great idea.

They stopped making them just because of the high cost to produce them. The option was $6000 and the demand was fairly low at that price. Although in the later years, dealers often had $3000 rebates on quadrasteer.

THey are really great trucks, and the few that we sold at our dealership havent had any problems. I wish they would bring them back.

Ya don't get me wrong it was by far one of the coolest trucks. But the placement of the rear steering rod was a little off. The thing was amazing with anything in tow.

The old 454 7.4L got better mileage. I'd expect closer to 10 wiht the 6L in mixed driving.

I have the '05 6L Sierra Denali (see profile) and am getting about 16.5mpg in mixed driving, 18-20 HWY and about 10-11 towing. My friend had the '04 with Quadrasteer and got about 13 with a heavy right foot. Keep in mind these are AWD so the milage is poorer than a 4WD with 2WD option.

As mentioned earlier these trucks turn better than most cars. The tow mode on the 4 wheel steering allows the truck to crab when changing lanes, very cool. We towed loads of Christmas trees with his SD at or above the 7,000-8,000lb limits and it worked flawlessly. I wish they would have kept it when they switched to the Crew Cab.
