It's actually HD but we've had a hard time figuring out the compression so it doesn't really look like it. We were using a Canon HV30. It's just me and my friends riding on Lake Entiat on the Columbia River. So... check it out.. yeah.

When where you riding? Haven't you heard there's a big group of NW riders at Pateros this week through Sunday? You guys should come up and ride with us if you're still in the area.

Nice Nick, I enjoyed it. How's your water temp holding up.

dave TBAS (noti_dad), I did hear about that, but I am working all week and teaching some lessons this weekend. Or else I would have loved to come out. Maybe next year?

Thanks Randy, water temp is high 60s to low 70s on the Columbia right now. At Clear Lake where I usually ride, I think the temp is like in the high 70s. Water temps will drop major in Oct. but I'm getting an old drysuit from my uncle, so hopefully the CWU wakeclub can ride well in to Nov :-).

Yes Mr. Lust, I am very much a proponent of flexible wakeboards.

Whats the music? I'm feelin' it. I found the Shook Ones but is it a remix or something? Cuz I like the version you guys have better than the straight up version from them.

Nick,

I noticed you were complaining about Vimeo. I downloaded your full file (almost 500 mb - gulp) and you've got the same interlace artifacts and HDV macroblocking that I'm seeing on the vimeo version although not as bad.

You might want to try transcoding your source video to a 720p format like DVCPro HD before you edit and just online it from there. That will get rid of the interlacing and smooth out the macro blocking before vimeo recompresses it and makes it worse. 1080i video is really only suited for broadcast and since all of your computer monitors out there display a progressive picture you want to de-interlace for the web.

I'm impressed with the video out of that HV30 though it's very clean in most cases and you did a nice job on the edit.

Rich,

Yeah my brother was tried of trying to compress the video to make it work. So he compressed it down to 500mb in visual hub after compressing it out of final cut which I really don't think was the best thing for it. But I think we are going to but the 35mm canon lense adapter for the HV30 cause he's got some L-Series lenses and a tilt shift lense that would all look really rad on video. But next video we make we'll make sure to figure out the compression and de-interlace it. He was just all stoked to shoot in 1080i cause it sounds cooler I think.

Nice vid man. That nose grab to tail grab was nasty. I have never seen any of the pros do that grab combo. You may have just started something with that. Just sick man. Great style and love all the blind 180 combos.

I would stick with the 1080i mode for acquisition over 24p, I think you'll get way better motion blur/smoother footage.

If you have compressor, after you're done editing I'd transcode it to h264 at around 5000 mbs, 29.97 fps, turn the frame controls on-high motion quality, use the de-interlace setting, resize settings to 1280X720 and then upload that file to Vimeo. You should end of with a file well under 200 mb that looks good.

Which 35 adaptor are you going to get? I hear the Letus is the best. I'd like to see footage from that if you do it.
