Yeah, its just really random that in the WBM they have a blurb on Co. Wake, they show a proto that says Shawn Watson right on the board.

Any body else see that.

That was on a picture somebody posted up here of the same Company Wake prototype board a month or so ago. I think that was right around the time that Watson signed his contract with LF. It should be interesting to see what Watson's new board/bindings are going to be like.

I'm not sure but the board he's riding in the above link certainly looks different than his 08 board. I may be completely wrong but the molded fins look longer. Anyone?

I have not followed the company wake story well, but I did see the ad/story with shawn watson's name right on the board.

Two simple theories:

1.) Justin Stephens and Shawn have worked together on several projects. They are probably friends. Justin is working on his own thing, needed some pro feedback, called shawn, it did not conflict with his contract so he test-drove that particular prototype, Justin wanted to keep track and wrote his name on it.

2.) Who owns (invests in) Company Wake? LF and Company could have the same parent $$$ and could just be sharing resources (professional expertise).

LF has to have the hand in the POT, you really cant just go out and start your own wake co unless you are the O'Briens, right?

does anyone think when it got leaked on here about Watson trying to go over to Co. wake Lf found out and put an end to it by making him a offer he couldnt refuse? If so that sucks for Co. Wake to lose a potential star rider from its team that way.

i dont think LF gave him an offer he couldnt refuse because he wouldnt be riding his new model in those pics on "a radix hymn". i think justin bounced off ideas to shawn and put his name on it because he was the tester..

That is possible, I think it is more likely that Watson was helping them with testing. Although, I can't fathom that there wouldn't be a provision in his contract that would prohibit his involvement with a competitor.

Liquid doesn't have anything to do with company wake. Company is completely independent.

Ok, so a guy with a long relationship with LF starts up a new wakeboard company, uses a key member of the lF team for testing & picks up one of there old riders for a team rider. Doesn't sound likes its independent to me.
