My friend is due for his, and is debating whether to take it to the dealer or do it ourselves. They want $300 to perform the service. They say that they change fluids, check motor mount/prop alaignment, check tune of engine, check perfect pass, and do a general check over of the boat. $300 seems a little high to me...~$50 for parts & fluids, & $250 for 1-2 hours labor? I'm not complaining about the money, but I just don't want to see him pay for a service we could easily do ourselves. I'm sure we can do the fluid changes, but if there is something that a regular automotive mechanic would miss, then I guess he should take it in. What do you guys think?

Nick, I would let them do the first one then after that do the rest your self. They might find something and fix it. Ya never know they are trained to look for stuff and also see stuff all the time

I agree with squid, take you boat in for service the first few intervals. A trained dealer mechanic will know about potential problems and would see early signs of those problems that you would proabbly miss.

Yeah I got raped the 1st 100hrs but after that I see no reason for them to charge me those inflated prices. After a 100hrs I felt everything was ok and I know how my boat is suppose to run and know what to listen for.
