Has anyone ever wakesurfed on a “Skurfer”? We tried wakesurfing behind a Centurion Lightning with the center and starboard tanks filled, and passengers on the starboard side. We were able to line surf but still had lots of line tension.

I read somewhere that the Skurfer was originally designed with wakesurfing in mind. Should we be able to pull off wakesurfing on a Skurfer? Our riders range in weight from about 170 to 230 lbs, I’m guessing that a wider board will be needed for the heavier riders.

Get yourself a 5'0 Liquid Force SkimSurf or a 5'6 Broadcast from Hyperlite. Both of those are really easy to learn on. Your not going to have any fun on a Skurfer unless your 65 feet back. Even that's not much fun unless you are going for the old school vibe. FYI Centurion's have a LH prop rotation(at least the new ones do, not sure if that has always been the case). Your weight, ballast, and rider should be on the otherside(port) of the wake. It'll be alot cleaner and bigger.

Just for chuckles, we've tried just about everything behind the boat. You can wakesurf with a wakeboard with full bindings, those styrofaom body boards and an air mattress. If it floats or will plane at or around 8 mph (considering the rider weight), you can surf it. Maybe not well, but, you can let go of the rope. What we've found necessary was to adjust the boat speed, down.
