San vs Sport

Looking at two different boats and would like your opinion or thoughts.

2001 super sport V drive asking 29000
2003 San asking 34000

I don't know the hours but could you get the same results from the super vs the san?

Same Hull, so yes.

Same hull, different name, different interior. The Super Sport may have no ballast or could have had it add (either factory or after market). Tower should be the same if it is an FCT and not an after market piece also. 2003 will be a GM motor... the 2001 could be Ford or GM. Hope that helps.

Is the San a team edition? I'd check to see if it was and the ballast system that's in both if any. Also stereo. If they are equally equipped I'd go for the SS and have the extra money to upgrade somethings like ballast and stereo.

Depending on what you need to add to the 2001, think I would pay the nominal extra and get the '03 for the added room.

As stated above, the hulls are the same, so the wake will be the same with equal weight.....

If they are equipped the same, just different years and badging, it makes your 5K decision easier. If you have to add a tower, ballast and PP to the '01.....you are going to close that 5K gap pretty quickly, that does not take into account that you get more room in the '02 and newer boats.

Anyway....just my $.02...

the 2003 has the redesigned smartpod and electric trunk actuators. I think the smartpod is worth the extra money right there since the 2001 gauges completely suck. If it's the SAN you'll have the graphics, tower, ballast, maybe PP....that's just one more thing you don't have to mess with.

Thanks for all the feedback. The san has everything but seems to be a little more neglected. The super sport needs to have ballast added, pp, however it does have the same tower.

^ We bought a Supersport w/o ballast, tower, pp, anything... added it all and its "better" than the SAN because when we did the ballast we did it right, not stock.

Go with the SS -- 29k
$1100 - Stargazer, better than the SAN cruise
$1000 - LOTS of ballast, better than the SAN

That leaves you about 3k for stereo, tower mirrow/racks, any other improvements.... its a better choice

Demo both boats and then make a decision.
