The grandfather of my children is working with me to remodel the dock at his lake house for my '05 VLX.

This is a floating dock on a lake controlled by the corps of engineers. The corps may get in the way of our plans to extend the dock four feet. But even if we don't change the dock's footprint, we will be adding a roof and a lift.

I will be running the electrical from the house (its about a 200' run). I'm looking for ideas that anyone might have on additional amenities that we should consider while we are doing the upgrade.

Someone has suggested wiring it so that we can control the lights from the house. Another has suggested adding water service. Do you think either of these options are worth the extra effort? How do you use the water service? What other ideas do you have?

Power and water.
Brock dock (not wood).
A wide side to hang out on.
Lighted cleats.
Canvas awning.
A ladder to the water.
Storage bin.
Benches/chairs.
Hyrdro-hoist.
Dog ramp.

It would be nice to have a hose to rinse the boat off with clean water at the end of a run.

Water and Power (one ckt lights, one ckt plugs). Run at least #10 gauge wire to reduce voltage loss. Motion activated light directly above the boat, great for docking, unloading, security. Low power ambient light.

Derek, you asked about water and if it would be worth it. My dock is about 200' from my house, and it would not be worth it to run a line. I wouldn't use it. I wipe the boat down while its wet, and keep a spray bottle handy.

If Dad-in-law is the generous type, the touchless cover mentioned on the other dock thread would be nice.
