I was wondering if there was something to control the volume of your tower speakers separately from your head unit?

I think it is called a remote gain from the amp... the stereo guys will be able to chime in better. I am having two remote gains installed on mine. One will allow me to turn down/up the tower speakers and the other for the sub. They will be mounted right up by the dash for easy access to the driver.

I have a Clarion EQ in my boat--separate controls for interior speakers, tower and bass/sub. works great

DO a search for LC1 and you will find some great information. It is what I use and love it.

I have both the LC1 and an EQ. I use the LC1 to control the bow speakers and the EQ to control the tower. I think the EQ works better for control between the boat and tower (as Chuck and Adam suggest).

Dumb question time. Will you please explain this EQ thing to me. I know that I used to have an EQ in my car. You use it to fine tune the music. I'm thinking the ones you are talking about are different. Also, which brand is good? How much are they? How does it control the volume?

Some of the EQs have a Front/Rear fader on them. You can use it to fade the tower speakers.

I use an LC1 for mine, works great. EQ would be better, but LC1 works great as a basic setup.

Another dumb question but which Clarion EQ model is good for a boat application and does it matter as to how much power you're pushing to the sub and tower speakers.

Randy, looks like Clarion came out with a new model for 2006, the EQS746:
http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2006/audio/processors/EQS746/us-en-product-pf_1134643389018.html

I have the Clarion EQS744 and it's great:
* boosts voltage to your amps for cleaner, stronger signal
* 7-band EQ
* AUX input for satellite or MP3
* fader knob
* seperate sub amp volume control
* master volume knob

The cheapest I found it when I was shopping was here:
http://www.discountjungle.net/search_result.php?searchKey=EQS-744&imageField.x=0&imageField.y=0
$52.90+shipping=best stereo upgrade bang/buck
Try to mount it where it can't get wet if possible. Mine is under my dash, set back a little and angled up slightly for viewing. Others have mounted them in the dash or sidewall by the throttle arm, with only the knobs sticking out.

Also, doesn't matter what amp(s) or head unit you're using. It will boost the line level of whatever you're using.
