Another board help question.

I have read many discussions on boards and I am not 100% sure on the way to go.

I am riding behind a sacked out 98 air nautique and can surf fine with a broadcast behind it.

I really want a fast, maneuverable board. I have been looking at the green loogey. Is that what I am looking for? Will it be fast enough to stay in my smaller wave? I am not in an area where can I test boards. So hopefully my first guess is correct.

Any help would be appreciated.

A little more info would be helpful Josh. Which broadcast - the 5'6" or the 4'9" model? Also, how much do you weigh? That'll give us an idea of the Loogey is faster down-the-line than your Broadcast.

As far as maneverability, the Loogey will be more responsive than your HL. The toe-in and depth of the fins, as well as, the shape will give you more rail-to-rail responsiveness. Your weight will determine how deep the board will sit in the water and that will have an impact on the responsiveness and if there is perhaps a better choice for you.

Post up the other details and I'm sure we can give you informed opinions.

I just got a TWP Composite X LTD Edition from the guys at wakeoutlaws and I absolutely love it. It's very very fast and responsive I went with the 5.0 because I'm a big guy (240) so you may want to go with the 4.5. I have ridden the yellow loogey and I like it but board to board for me there simply is no comparison. Obviously it does depend on your style surf or skim but I'd bet you'd like the the comp X.

It was the 4'9", I weigh 150 lbs.

The Loogey is about 22.5" wide compared to the Broadcast's 20.5" width. This increase surface area significantly which does contribute to down-the-line speed. Also, as I mentioned before, the Loogey has fins with a bit of cant and toe-in and the standard fin is 3.5" deep. All of that will combine to add more drive than what you are currently accustomed to. The width of the Loogey does tend to make it feel less responsive rail-to-rail than some other boards, but it is by no means a slouch. IMO, it will feel more responsive than your Broadcast.

I haven't ridden the quad fin option on the Loogey, as yet. It looks like it is only a few dollars more and so that might be a worthwhile option just for the extra flexibility you'd gain with two extra fin boxes, plus typically quads have more down-the-line speed than twins.

IMO, you'd be pleased with the performance of the Loogey in comparison to the 4'9" Braodcast and at your weight and skill level will ride fine behind the boat you describe.

As Hate N Pain points out there may be other options available that are better suited to you.
