I'm looking for some input on purchasing a new boat, I really want the best boat possible for boarding and surfing. My budget is 18-30k, been looking at sanger v210,and some 230's, avalanches, super air 210's. What do you guys think? Thanks

Two words: Test drive. That being said, I own a Sanger V210 (my first boat purchase after about 3 years of research and looking) and love it. I picked up an '02 for $19k a couple of years ago and could probably sell it today for what I paid for it. If you've been on this board a while you've noticed there is a pretty loyal following for Sanger's on here which was a pretty big influence on the boat brand I ended up buying. I've never ridden let alone sat in one; however, your budget is probably enough to look at the V215 which gets good reviews on this board. As for the other brands I have no experiencce with them. Have fun with your boat search!

So the v210 has a real nice surf and wakeboard wake? What set up do you use? I have found some pretty good prices on v210's. I'm used to riding behind a 03 supra ssv, or a 06 moomba lsv.

I think the avalanche will give you more bang for your buck the avalanche is capable of making a world class surf wave on both sides and makes a decent wakeboard wake but is a little sensitive to weight placement

Why not the V215?

What are the key differences between the v210 and v215? Besides length and 215's are 5-8k more than 210's.

I'm no Sanger expert but the 215 doesn't have that weird hump in the rear lockers, it's 6" wider and 1' longer. That equates to a ton of interior room.

Here's a pretty damn good asking price on a nice 215 that looks to be brand new.

Wow that is a good deal, that may be a little hard to convince the wife for that.

Todd,

Someone else will have to chime in about the surf wake we don't surf behind mine. However, the V210 puts out a great wakeboard wake with a lot of weight in the bow. Do a search on this board and you'll see some photo's of some pretty good dialed in V210 wakes. If you can find a V210 with the Black Scorpion engine it doesn't have the hump on the rear engine hatch that was noted above. If a great surf wake is a must I would definitely look at the V215.

As noted above, Black Scorpion = no hump

I have a 08 V215 and love it!! Great wakeboard wake and awesome surf wake. Great fit and finish. I would hold out for the v215 over the 210 just to avoid the hump in the rear (personal preference). I have heard good things about the v230 for surfing. Can't go wrong with Sanger. I will try to get a surf wake pic for you.

Quick question- what if my budget was more?? 30-50k what would be the recommended boat for wake and surf?

I would still highly suggest Sanger, but like stated previously Sanger has a loyal following by their owners yet are not very well known. Centurion, from reading on this forum, make one of the best surf wakes. This is just what I read, I have only surfed behind my Sanger V215, so it is all hearsay. Your 18-30k range should yield you a very nice lightly used boat or maybe even a new slightly less optioned out boat if you are patient.

If you want to get close to 50k get an Axis A22 with the plug and play.
