I frequent Munich a lot, but this year I managed to have a meeting the Monday after it ends. So this year I am going. Who has gone and where did you stay?

We went to Europe last year for 2 weeks and went to Oktoberfest for 2 days... had a blast!! It's pretty crazy

Can't remember the name and probably couldn't even spell it if I did haha
It was like a 1/2 block away from there. If you go down about 3 blocks you'll find the strip clubs..

We just read reviews to find all of the places we stayed at.

we stayed in a hostel. pretty much the only way to go imo. if you can get into wombats hostel do however it. they open their rooms(booking) for octfst i think in early august and are sold out in minutes. DO NOT GO down to the entrance on opening day. go watch the parade and find a bar for an hour(it opens at noon) trust me, wait an hour to go. the gate to enter is SLAMMED and you will be standing nut to butt with no place to move. it was utterly miserable for about an hour. some really bad things could happen in those situations(think soccer stadiums with people falling over the sides or being trampled). the tent scene is crazy. haufbrau is the the most westernized, aussies canadians, americans. its also opens early on sundays. tents will be slammed, we didnt have any reservations just hopped aroun from tent to tent. be careful on the benches, i saw numerous ppl fall and bust up their faces. disregard the opening parade, i saw you will be there at the end. also bear in mind the park closes relatively early 9 or 10 pm so dont wait around like you would in america to go out.

Myke,

I have heard that 2 days is ample time to spend their. Ill try to find into where you stayed.

Alan,

Ha I love Wombats, I go their on occasions to drink at their bar late night with friends. I think they only have openings midweek for around 90 euro a night:/ Then probably tent camp for two nights. I dont plan on going to the festival the whole time. Probably take my buddy out of town for some sight seeing and odd german entertainment. Did you end up going out in the city at night?

no we partied back at the hostel at night. hostels as with every type of accommodation are priced thru the roof. id jump all over the wombats. a buddy did the camping thing, i think there are too many variables with camping(weather and parties going literally all night that he couldnt get away from including fights in neighboring tents)

Id like to stay at wombats for the whole time, but its all sold out sadly. Im not sure about the other hostels though, most likely the same outcome. Any more info on the camping? was it to far out ?
