If I were to add a single 600 lbs. water ballast to a 17' I/O Rinker or a 19' I/O Maxum would I see a significant difference in the wake size/shape? Thanks for any help.

I rode behind a 17' outboard for many years and we always put a fat sac in the boat(600lbs.) The wake sucked without it. I will likely make the wake alot better...but use more gas and change the handling of the boat.
Is it worth it? Oh yeah!

For sure will make a difference! I suggest putting it more in the middle to the front of the boat rather than the back. Then if you have a 2nd one, fill it about half way in the back. (This is just what I have found to be best in my boat, 19ft Bluewater I/O)

I second what Nick said. Are you running a stock prop? I hope you have the 4.3 in the Maxum...

600lbs will make a huge differance on a 17ft boat.
