Something kind of funny happened yesterday.

There were 7 people, probably an average of 1400-1500 lbs in the back of the boat and no one up front. Were were trying to get up on plane and the boat wouldn't go past 12.2 MPH. I had to put taps on slalom to get it to plane out.

Was the boat just bogged down with so much weight in the back and none in the front?

No on the moving people up front, we had a Sky Ski up front in the bow. I've never had this problem. But I usually have a few people in the bow too.

You should put the taps on slalom to start then trim down. What motor does the boat have?

If you have to much weight in back that is exactly what will happen. Def need more weight in the front. The normal rule to go by is 40% front 60% back.

Sounds like it was just bogged down. Accelerating lifts the bow, weight in the back lifts the bow, and rising out of the water lifts the bow. Too much lift and the prop, which already pushes up some, is just working at pushing the boat up and doesn't have the force forward to get it over the hump. That's why adjusting the trim worked.
It could be tuning on the engine too but maximum drag is just before you plane.

I figured as much. Using TAPs did the trick. After I get a foil rack, I'll definetly have people up front.

Definitely need to check the prop and distribute the weight a little more evenly. I just went from a stock prop to the OJ #475 and talk about night and day!! The boat (w/ 3000lbs of ballast) practically jumps up on plane and holds speed within 2 tenths of a mph (verified with GPS).

Pretty simple. Too much weight in the back.
