We're riding my buddies X-star last Thursday after work. I rode a long set, at the end of which I went for a simple roll to revert. Came down with my right leg straight and pop.... I felt (and heard) the knee come out of place, then felt (and heard) it go back in. Hurt like hell, so made a trip to ER to make sure no broken bones.

Nothing appears to be broken, do have a lot of swelling and not much range of motion. Pain on the inside of the knee so I fear MCL.... I've never had knee trouble after 10 years hard riding so I don't know what to expect.

Appointment Monday 8am with orthopedic specialist, wish me luck. We have the video, you can actually see my knee fold inward and my shoulder damn near touches my board. I'll post it up next day or two.

Lessons learned
1. Dont push it when you're tired
2. Don't ride hard when not on your normal setup (the week before I had broken my LF witness, while awaiting warranty my spare board is an older LF Subjekt that doesn't allow the stance all the way out with my newer bindings)

Dustin, Whats up, its Greg. I did the exact same thing, only is was a w2w, and not nearly as cool as a roll to revert. Wish I had a better story. My wreck was the excact same thing as you described, stiff leg lander, knee folds in pop and out of socket. It popped back in when I pulled the board off. The result was torn miniscus and acl. Im hoping your pronosis is better than mine. Hope it goes well.

Greg, how you been man? Yeah this sucks... We had a 5 day trip planned to Lake Shelbyville in Decatur the wknd of the 18th, looks like I won't be riding there...

What's up w/ Boot Camp this year, we'd heard they weren't doing it? Can you confirm or deny?

How long ago was your injury and how long were you out? I'm slowly accepting the fact that my season may be done.... Maybe they'll tell me it was just dislocated, everything's sprained, and I'll just need rehab and a brace.

I really don't want to have to get cut on.....

Hope all is going well for you guys. Business calmed down enough now for you to get some more water time this year?

For your sake I hope its a severe sprain or something along those lines. I just had a doc who was hesitent to do much of anything including an MRI. Ended scoping it to find while he was in there the ACL was torn. So three weeks later there was a second surgery to repair the ACL. Did it at boot camp, sliced and diced the second time in December. Two weeks after getting greenlighted in May, I crashed racing the fifty and sprained the bad knee setting back a ton of strength I had built up and also seperated my AC joint in my shoulder. Im finally getting behind the boat now. We have a lakefront house now, so its on!

Boot Camp is a no-go for this year. A lot of the guys needed a break.

After dealing with what I went through, I hope you get some good news. Call me if you get up here, since moving onto the lake it seems like there's a party at the house every weekend. People with limps are always welcome.

Good luck bro!!

I wish I could tell you that it was going to be good news, but hopefully it was just the ACL. I blew mine out two weeks ago, had the surgery 7/1 and am on the mend now. Wish mine was a spectacular as ya'lls, but it was wrestling with the old lady! Research the types of surgery and get informed. I relied on my ortho outfit (they do pro sport athletes -not one, just good insurance). I can give you some first hand insight on what you are in for if it was a blown ACL and you do the Patella graft.

Do a search on the ACL injuries here and you will learn tons like I did.

Cheers,

Bob

MRI results come back next Monday, but the docs are faily certain I've done my ACL and injured MCL as well. Bummer I can't ride anymore this year, trying to stay positive and tell myself I'll get rehabbed and ready to go by next May.

On the plus side, I've already started PT, swelling is going down quick. I'll probably be walking in a day or two again. Sucks cause we have a five day trip planned for next week. I was pumped cause I'm inches away from a HS 5. Guess I'll be the designated boat driver, beer drinker (when not driving), coach, and videographer...
