MB Quart Head Unit

So we bought one of those MB Quart Marine CD players on ebay, and after we get it hooked up we have no sound and the face won't open. The unit powers on and everything and we can cahnge modes and what not, but like I said, no sound, and the motorized faceplate doesn't open. So we call the tech support line that the seller told us to call, because the thing came with a ninety day warranty, and they tell us we need to check the voltage with a meter. My question is, how would voltage effect the ability of the unit to open? I could see how maybe the internal amp wasn't getting enough power or something, but it seems strange that all the other functions work and you still can't open the thing. I don't know, we are going to check it out anyway, but it seems like it won't fix anything. Any advice from the stereo guru's out there? Hopefully we can figure this out fairly quick because there is only a month left on the warranty.

if there is requirement for a in-line fuse, make sure its there with the correct voltage. had a poineer unit that wouldnt turn out without the correct fuse

I would check a couple things, first double check that there is no security/shipping lock on the faceplate, next as clubmyke said make sure all fuses are good and that they are making good connections in their housings, finally add another ground to the case of the unit, it sometimes is needed in boat or Corvette installations.

I seem to remember some sort of clip/lock mechanism on my Rockford head unit, which is the exact same unit. Scan thru the instruction book that came with the HU right quick, see if it mentions anything. Then, if not, go through it step by step and make sure you've done EVERYTHING it says to do in it.

I once had a head unit that had a security screw or lock that had to be removed in order for it to function. It was clearly stated in the owner's manual, however. Did they provide you with an owner's manual?
