hi, we just bought a supra 21v launch with perfect pass. The perfect pass sets the speed and surges up and down for a short while and then finally drops the speed all together. We have completed the servo and linkage tests described in the manual and they work as stated. Can anyone help us? What should we try next??

Try here: http://www.perfectpass.com/pp_support_trouble_shooting.html

Most likely need to adjust KDW and/or NM.

You should list your settings.

I can help you out with this. What year 21V?

But try this NM setting at 90 and KDW at 160 if you see the ## while perfect pass is engaged bump you KDW up to 180

2006 supra, thanks...we have adjusted all the settings NM and KDW, my husband thinks it could be throttle positioning sensor....going to go to the shop first week in June to see if that will make a difference.

Hi,

Your husband could be correct (a problem unique to this make and model year). But the one thing you could do is run it in RPM mode and see how it works.

This is a common problem for the 06 21v (07 and later switched to drive by wire PP eliminating the servo motor). I had the same problem, upgraded to DBW PP and have no problems at all. If you dont want to upgrade, just run in RPM mode or try different settings - 200 or higher for KDW if you are running a lot of ballast. Call Perfect Pass if you want more detail on the problem - they are fully aware of the problem and their technical support is great.

did you have to pay for the dbw pp converrsion or was it covered by waranty?

It was covered under warranty by Skier's Choice.

I'm assuming you bought the boat used since it is a 2006? If so did you transfer the warranty? If you didn't transfer the warranty it will probably not be covered.

We took the boat out today and the perfect pass works in RPM mode!! yeah, now what does that tell us...the wakeboard mode still fluctuates 5-10mph, and then just drops speed.

Mine did the same - worked fine in RPM mode, huge surges in wakeboard mode. The DBW PP fixed that. If its not covered under warranty I would just use RPM mode over spending $700 for the upgrade.

I have an 06 24SSV and was having the same problem. I had to adjust the nm, kdw settings to something crazy and backwards. I had to put the KDW (I think is the filter setting) at an incredibly low setting like 30 and the NM (I think is the aggressiveness of the throttle) very high like 100.
This was the only way I could get it to work decently in wakeboard mode and it took like 2 1/2 hours and 3/4 of a tank of gas to find the right setting.

Thanks for the numbers!! I will try that next! Otherwise, I might have to shell out another $700 for the dbw conversion kit plus labor! OUCH

Okay well the fact it works in RPM mode may mean there is hope for your speed modes. Basically if it works in RPM mode then your throttle mate system is still working half decent. You need to check the paddlewheel to ensure it is pointing straight forward and spinning free.

Where can I buy a paddle wheel, and is there a certain one I have to buy for our boat or are they all the same?

i am having similar problems with the wakeboard pro on my 2001 ssv. Paddle wheels spins free, but i get an all over reading, then nothing. But perfect pass works fine in rpm.

We called perfect pass today from the boat. Works in rpm mode, but still having trouble at 2600 rpm's with speed fluctuating to much! also idle seems to be running high 1300 rpm in idle! Talked to Aaron at perfect pass and he said if the boat does not fluctuate at 2400 rpms going straight on the water then it is not the paddle wheel. So our boat does not fluctuate at 2400 but does at some higher speeds and ballast totally effects the pp in rpm mode. We are looking into the DBW conversion kit and hopefully we'll get the hookup from pp or indmar for the kit! This is so frustrating, we sold our old 1970 Nordic jet boat cuz we got hooked on boarding, but since the purchase of the launch it's been nothing but pain!

Missi, I feel your pain. Once you get your PP problems sorted out you are gonna love your 21V. Check your email - I sent some info that may be useful (could help with your problem).

*&#*()$#)(*$ Man... some people are incredibly... well I wont say it..

Perfect Pass will figure out a solution... the fact is you went from a Jet Boat to one of the finest wakeboard boats out there... and now you are saying it has been nothing but a pain...

PLEASE...

Simple solution... drive the boat like every other person has to that doesn't have Perfect Pass...

Maybe this is something you should have checked out when you did a test drive!

I don't think the boat is the pain... I think it is your lack of experience.

Stop whining on here... work with Perfect Pass... after all... who at the end of the day is the only one that can help you?

Wow! I was getting some really helpful advice from everyone here...didn't mean to piss you off, the fact that we bought a really great boat, (that we did test drive by the way) makes it all the more frustrating when it doesn't do what we paid for! Anyway, nobody is forcing you to read my posts!! so f-off and start a new hater's thread if that's what you need to do! The fact that you even wasted your time responding to my post just puts it back up at the top, real smart Oh, and by the way, you are wrong about perfect pass being the only one's who can help us! Someone from this post sent me an indmar throttle guide and saved the day!! Wakeworld discussion board rocks!! Thanks to all the people who were so helpful with sharing their experience in correcting the problem!

Past tense, it ruled. We are now hijacked and off-subject. Hope you got your resolution because we are heading down stream.

I'm on it! Getting drive by wire conversion kit and throttle-mate issue resolved, which, by the way, I would not have known about unless I had posted here, so for the last time WAKE WORLD ROCKS! PEACE OUT!!

I am having the same problem with my 02 SSV. I have not tried it in RPM yet though. May do that tomorrow. What exactly did you figure out?
