What do you guys reccomend for a lower wattage setup?

I have all my amps purcahsed, and will be running a 300 watt RMS sub amp, and I will be looking for either 2 10's or 2 12's. I have been out of the loop for a long while, so Im not sure what subs are decent in the lower wattage area.

I will have about 150 watts RMS for each subwoofer, and will probably run them in a ported box for maximum effeciency.

With that said Im looking for a pair of subs with higher spl (1watt/1meter) and lower RMS handling so I can power them to their full potential.

What brands would you guys go with?

I know the Alumapro Alchemy RX-12 is 92db or 93.5db sensitivity depending on if it's the SVC or DVC model. They are 500rms / 1000 peak though. I think Image Dynamics makes some around 92db also.

Wouldn't you be better off with one good, efficient sub with 300w rather than sending only 150w to each of 2 subs though?

It would work either way, 1 sub with double the wattage vs 2 subs with half the wattage.

Thats assuming the subs are the same and not 2 subs with less power handling.

So I might just go with 1 sub. Although the Dayton 12" subs are 120 watt RMS and have high SPL.

I have a Polk Momo 10" in a .88 cubic foot MDF box with a Pioneer Premier 300w amp and it sounds great, IMO. Just an inexpensive set up with decent sound for all types of music.

wheres the best place to buy gear from?

I have bough from Cardomain before but now they have switched to Crutchfield.

Even older gear that is still new at clearance price is fine.

bigger subs are generally more efficient, and if you want additional efficiency go with a pro sub rather than a car sub. the downsisde is they require a huge box.

you can get plenty of volume with 300W you just need to be careful not to over drive the amp.

Check out the Wetsounds subs. The 10 subs will defiantly give anything else a run for their money as far as quality and efficiency. They give specs of 175 watts RMS and 350 watts max. Something else to throw in the mix.
