Looking for a class D amp 600 watts by 4 channel. Bang for the buck. Was looking at JL Audio MHD600/4 but the cheapest I can find them is about $600. Going to need 3 so trying to cut down on costs.

Anyone know of anything comparable to the JL Audio amp for less $$$?

2nd vote for the JL hd6004. This is a VERY efficient amp, you will not be disappointed.

I too have the JL HD on it's way to me. Everything I've read says that the JL HD blows the PDX away. I got mine for $533 shipped.

Everybody seems to thing I should just pony up and grab the JL 600.

But what is the differance between the MHD and HD?

I know the MHD is marine and $40 more but is there a differance? Why did you guys go HD instead of MHD?

I noticed the MHD says class D which means it should be more efficient with power. Didn't see that listed on the HD? Does that mean its A/B?

I'll be powering 8 8" drivers and 8 horns on the tower with two amps and 8 6" drivers and horns in the interior with one amp.

My sub a 15" L7 runs off one Hifonics Brutus 1600

nice set up, The MDH and HD are both Class D amps. the MDH is the marine version and is white instead of the aluminum look of the HD

I'm not exactly sure what steps JL took to make them marine ready but everything from size to weight to Power is the same

I went with the HD because i knew mine would never get wet and i liked the aluminum look better

8 6" drivers and horns in the interior....horns in the interior?

You could go with the Alpine PDX 4.150 as another option but the money is pretty close on them unless you get the Alpines off of Ebay.

Whats going on the tower and cabin?

Why don't you just get a couple 2 channel amps for the tower and run them at 2 Ohms? You could get 2 Boston Acoustic GT28 for about $700 shipped and throw 225 watts at each speaker.

It also looks like you're only gonna be throwing 75 watts to the interior's with one of the HD's or PDX. Is that enough?

not trying to say anything bad about the PDX amps but i took a 4.150 off my 4 pro 60s and put a hd600/4 on them and there is a night and day difference

There's always gonna be a BBD ( Bigger better deal)

what about the wetsounds syn line? Super effecient.

I run the PDX amps and have been impressed with them overall and overally impressed at how effecient they are.

Adam,
like i said i wasn't trying to dog on the PDX, i believe for the money, there specs are great and they do a good job in the real world, i just think the JL is better if you can afford it

if i had to do a stereo on a pretty tight budget i would go with the PDX all the way, if money is not as much of an issue go with the JL and you won't regret it
