Is there some place to checking wiring or suggestions?
Thanks

Check connections on the back of the tach. Wiggle the wires and see if it goes on and off, if so you have a bad connection or a break in a wire. If you're sure the tach has good power and ground, then check your signal wire to the coil or just run a new one (can do a temporary wire to test).

The tach gets 3 wires.....ign power, ground, and signal.

Signal goes from the distributor if older....computer if newer.

What year, make, model, motor?

Isn't there a module behind the dash that can be suspect, and costly?

i believe so but what makes it suspect is that it is intermittent.
