Cool. 21 or 23?

not sure yet. It will probably depend on what he has built and ready to go when my boat sells. Would like to get into a 21 to check it out firsthand though!

What kind of weight is being used for wakesurfing? I currently only run the stock ballast on either side, which is 1000#. Wake is better on the starboard. Nice size wave, but seems kind of short. Going to add 750# in rear locker and 500# or 1000# in front bow. Any suggestions?
Old     (wakereviews)      Join Date: Sep 2006       08-07-2008, 1:55 PM Reply
I started filling up the other side about 50% and the surf side full. Have you tried that?
Old     (rodv)      Join Date: Jun 2008       08-07-2008, 2:03 PM Reply
I'll have to try that this weekend. Does that help extend the wake?

Ian are those NVS speakers on your tower?
If so how do you like them?
Old     (wakereviews)      Join Date: Sep 2006       08-07-2008, 3:07 PM Reply
Yeah, those are the Deviants... I friggin LOVE them. They are insanely loud and clear.

Rod, it does seem to make the wave a little firmer and the pocket longer on my Tomcat.

I thought that's what they were thanks, I think that's what I will run on my 09 boat or I will run a pair of Entity.
Old     (wakereviews)      Join Date: Sep 2006       08-07-2008, 3:23 PM Reply
I think the Entity's are done... for 2009 it's the Prodigy's. When you are ready, let me know... we're a dealer for NVS & i'll hook you up with a deal!

Either my shop or one of my friends car/boat audio shop is going to be a dealer, I think I will let him get the dealer and just get my product from him, but thanks, he does most of my shops work for the boats we sell.

Ian,
you have a beautiful boat why sell it? is it cause it fells to big? i've heard its 23 foot but people say it fells like a 25 foot boat.

C.F. Shoreline does drop off quick, but I was a little closer than I wanted to be in that 2nd pic. Your boat looks great. What number tint is that on your windshield?

Does anyone else think that MB needs to update their dash? I have an 04 that I love. I've been looking at the 09's and am pretty bummed on how dull they look compared to others. I know that shouldn't matter much but it kinda bugs me. Off topic I know, but wanted ask this question without hearing from a bunch of MB haters.
Old     (rodv)      Join Date: Jun 2008       08-11-2008, 8:29 PM Reply
I noticed they switched the sides of the stereo and the switches on the dash, but that looks about it. Could use a fresher look, but I still like it. Glad to see that they put the arm rest cut out for the throttle back. My 08 doesn't have it. MB is going to put one on there for me later this year. Don't know why they didn't put it on there in the first place. This was the only year they didn't. I also like those chambers to fill the ballast on the 09. A little over a minute to fill and empty compared to 10 min. Anybody have any reviews on those?
Old     (wakereviews)      Join Date: Sep 2006       08-12-2008, 6:13 AM Reply
Yeah, mine works like a champ. Takes about 60 - 80 seconds to fill it all the way up (2400 lbs) and about 45 seconds on plane to empty.

Tanks are integrated fully into the hull so you lose no storage and there are no bags or hard tanks. It is the best system ever. Nothing else that I have seen even comes close.

Here is a video of the 2400 lb ballast system on a F23 Tomcat.

It's so sad that MB makes such a good - yet so ugly boat. The Tomcat aside - that thing is a complete disaster. The other boats are just so terrible looking in terms of gelcoat and tower. It kills me that the boats are good but they just can't tie the knot when it comes to the full package. Its the best built horribly designed boat money can buy.
Old     (wakereviews)      Join Date: Sep 2006       08-12-2008, 7:51 AM Reply
it's all personal opinion though. Certainly some of the color schemes buyers/dealers choose will fall outside of that bell curve of what everyone likes but I think that is part of what MB likes to be... different.

However, I have seen some MB's that IMO were some of the best looking boats I've seen. I saw this boat in person at the factory and it is absolutely gorgeous. On the flip side, I've seen some I didn't like too (but that goes for every boat make)

That's the whole reason I sold my 06 MB and bought the new 09. When I heard about the new ballast system I just had to have it. I can easily say that it was totally worth it just for the ballast upgrade alone. My B52V has 1800 lbs that fills in less than 60 seconds and empties in about 30 seconds. We do a ton of surfing so it was pretty anoying to have to sit and wait almost 10 minutes to drain one side and fill the other. This was it take no time at all. I know, its not that big a deal to have to wait a few minutes but when we go out we usually only have a limited amount of time and the less time waiting for ballast pumps means more time on the water.
With the 06 I would sometimes forget that the pumps were still on because it took so long. I went through a couple of impellers before I learned my lesson but still found it easy to forget. No problems with the new system. Only praise.

Yes the black Tomcat is a disaster. Yup. The Tomcat, in any color is a disaster. It is the most aggressively, ugliest wake boat ever designed. The one above it that you posted is also ugly. I just went to onlyinboards.com and saw that they are a sponsor of yours. It makes sense now that you defend them. So if we're talking subjectively here, you probably cant participate. And since I am with the camp that dislikes it so much, perhaps so should I.

I'll depart this thread with this: With a couple of exceptions, MB makes a well built, but ugly & poorly designed set of boats with associated poor resale value.

It is true that we're sponsored by MB and it's true that I disagree with you. But no worries, we're all different with different opinions, right? I don't take any of your above comments as "hating" at all.

Browny, look above for my new boat. Its the black and gray one.

"The Truth"(not stating the truth in my experience) Poor resale value has not been my experience. How many MB's have you sold?

The Truth is, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But why jump in on the middle of a thread and start hating? It would seem that you are plenty busy with having a vanilla and a chocolate boat to admire anyways.

I personally like the MB boats especially the B52. Rod i see yours all the time in oakdale on my way to tulloch very nice lookin boat! Whatever happened to "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all"?

Kenny, great color choices on the puzzle graphics! I like the new racks for '09. Transom remote is a nice touch, I put one in the same spot.
I would love to order up a '09 F21 or B52, but I will probably wait till 2010. Did you sell or trade yer '06?

I never understood why someone would read or post in a thread that contains a boat or product that they are a hater of. WTF?
Opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one... except some stink more that others.
Old     (trash4life)      Join Date: Jun 2005       08-12-2008, 12:15 PM Reply
Thanks, it took us forever to choose the colors. I was scared to death it wouldn't look nice but as you can see it turned out great. The coolest thing about that was that after we had sent in our color choices we got a phone call from Mike Brendel himself suggesting a few minor changes that he thought would look even better. Pretty good customer service if you ask me.

I can't tell you how many improvements there have been on the new boats. I loved my 06 and everyone thought I was crazy when we were trading it in. We got what we wanted in the trade in. But like you mentioned the racks are improved, the stock stereo speaker system is amazing, surf wake is now awesome on botht sides, too many things to list. Like I said I loved my old one but the 09 is my dream boat.
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       08-12-2008, 12:15 PM Reply
Gee Browny I wonder why you like his color scheme!? Get some pictures of your's up on the lift J/K man we need to get out and surf that thing. I wanna try an MB to see what she can do sacked out.

MB haters WTF these boats are very well built and the finish is excellent too. If you don't dig the graphics or their iteration of the pickle fork fine but to hate on em like that is asinine.

The ballast system alone is reason enough to buy a MB!!!!

Before I ordered mine I had a hard time deciding what colors to go with, so I called the 800 # on the back of the brochure. I asked the gal if they had a gallery of pics she could send... to make a long story short, Mike Brendel called me the very next morning!!! After playing twenty questions, I knew I made the RIGHT choice in going with a MB! Try getting the CEO's of any other boat manufacturer to spend almost an HOUR on the phone with a potential customer!
Old     (alans)      Join Date: Aug 2005       08-13-2008, 6:11 AM Reply
Mike B. calls quite a few of my customer's too. I think it is really cool. He will also show up at boat shows and help sell boats. I would not rather sell any other brand.

^^^Splash that pig! I hadn't realized you had another kid. Congrats! Every year I kept planning on getting a boat then another kid so I had to wait. The only thing worse is having a boat sitting on the lift and not being able to splash it. I feel for ya man.

Travis keeps talking like he's gonna buy your boat when you're ready for a new one. I'll believe it when I see it he's to damn tight.

Just my opinion, but I think the pics of the tomcat on the trailer don't do it justice. Those boats look great on the water, and the wake is ridiculous.

hey there, been lurking for awhile, thought this would be the best thread for a first post. 08 tomcat great boat, tons of room, huge bimini. got alot better pics but i cant figure out how to get them small enough or insert them from a different site.
