U.S. Olympic curling. My favorite winter olympic sport. I was fired up to watch these games after Team Fenson got the bronze in Torino.

But Shuster was awful. Three games were lost on his final rock. Too much pressure I guess.

And as I write this, looks like they replaced him with the alternate.

Wow.

There is a ton of strategy to this game and is dictated by the skill to through the rock. Hey, Vernon Davis is the honorary captain. And as I watch Great Britain vs. US, Shuster is screwing up again.

I didn't mean it as a 'gotcha', really. I don't understand Curling and thought that maybe it was a term used specific to the sport. I questioned it out of curiosity.
Congrats on the newborn.

Curling's awesome. We watched all weekend. Sure beats the hell out of any figure skating event that involves men !

There is no such thing as a figure skating man.

While I cannot stand to watch figure skating I do have enormous respect for what those guys do...

How is curling better than Alpine Downhill, Super G, Freestyle, Luge, Skeleton, or Short Track Speedskating?

I tried to watch but I don't get it.

I think that curling should be in the Olympics but it should also be a drinking game. I mean come on, full size shuffleboard, how can you do it without being plastered?

Everyone has to drink a beer per end, and the losing team of that end has to have each person drink another beer.

At least 10 beers a game, a few games and youre pretty darn good.

There were two venues completely sold out. Hockey and Curling. When you first watch it... boring as heck.

But when you start to understand it, it becomes really intriguing. It is a sort of "geek" sport because of the physics and geometry involved. As for physical fitness... not much but try to get in that position. quite difficult. There is a lot of terms used that are hard to follow. Sometimes we are watching it and my wife would look at it and ask, "What did he just say?"

As for "not getting worked up". Pulling the national pride card here. You should always pull for the US to win in any event. In Torino, the US men pulled off the unthinkable and came in third. Not unreasonable to think they could have done it again.

A little online game for the curling enthusiast.

I actually kinda like watching the curling at times (maybe it is because we have a shuffleboard table at the house), though the announcer always trashing the players decisions is damn annoying.
