First board for the kids

I am so excited that the kids now have a board and bindings to try. Hopefully they will try it out soon.

Boards a little big 109 would be better for them.

Heres my little guy. Yours will get there fast. If you have INT in your area it will really help them progress.

He started at age 5 2 years ago.

Won Int Nationals last year as a 6 year old rider. (He was 7 when he won.

I took a vid of him on Saturday and I'll see if I can post it.

I've been looking at boards for my 7 year old daughter who wants to start riding. She is about 55 pounds. What size board would you guys think is best?

Mike, I see your boy is riding a 109. How much does he weigh? I've been looking at 109, 119, and 125cm boards. the 109 seems like good size, but worried it may be too small for her.

That was great! How did you start him out? Speed line length? I was thinking about being on a tube in front of them to make sure they don't get scared. also then I can be in the water with them when they are not riding.

When i started him out, we just threw on his board, parked the boat, gave him the handle and i yanked him up by hand (pulling the rope)until he got used to getting up.... Then as he got behind the boat, they always want to stand up right away,so i told aj to count to 30 before he stood up, this works if they do it , obliviously they get up sooner but the point is not to stand up too early.
As far as board sizes go AJ started out with the motive 109.. rode for 1 1/2 years and he is now on the HL state 125 and is progressing quite well, and he only weighs 55lbs....so learning i recommended 109 under 55 and 119 or 125 over 55, but it really depends on the kids and how motivated they are to ride...

Andrew learned to get up on the Sun deck of the boat. Then I had his older brother get in the water behind him to help him get up the first time. His brother was 10.

I have a Tomcat so our boats are alike for wake. Started out at 16mph then once you get to crossing the wake I started increasing the speed. (don't tell him you are increasing it or he will freak). Keep the line short so you can talk to him without yelling at him.

The faster he goes the more stable the board is.

He rides a 109 motive with .07 fins at 21.5 MPH and a 60-65' line. I brought him back in to 55' when he started working on his toeside 2 wake.

Andrew weights 52lbs but he does 180's so a shorter board is needed. I wouldn't go to a 125 as he will need to work to hard to edge and the chance of a face plant is to great.

I just picked up a Hyperlite Motive 109 for my little girl who is 8yrs and about 48lbs. She got up on the 2nd try and has been loving it. Highly recommend that board for the kids.

Thanks for all the info, I can't wait. I am actually looking for shorty wetsuits before we get them in the water. You know little kids and colder water tend to not mix well.
