Who do you all have playing in the finals? Who wins?

Thoughts on the game last night? The Mavs, Yikes.

Harden gone from OKC? Is a huge loss, but hes simply not worth 60 million dollars...

MVP thoughts? Durant?

Suprise teams? Knicks?

Can the bulls survive till Rose returns.

The NBA is the best.

So pumped about the start of the season. Thoughts on the game, lakers played like lakers, got a nice loss, I personally dislike them, but I love Pau and both him and Jamison are on my fantasy team, however I have Brand and Marion from dallas as well. Crazy when you have players playing each other.

For team fan base Im OKC all the way, sucks that we lost Hardin, but thats how it is...
is he worth it? well in my opinion anythings worth what someone will pay for them. Houston wanted him, houston got him, hope he stays healthy with that kind of a bankroll.

MVP Durant/Lebron

The Bulls can "survive" without rose, but they wont be good.

Suprise team? eh... wth rockets

how about Ray Allen though!! putting up some points last night

I am ready for the warriors season to start. Going 500 would be like winning the championship for me. Too bad our to best players are made out of paper mâché. If curry and bogut play more then 60 games a piece I would be shocked.

Finals : Heat vs OKC - Heat

MVP : L. James

Surprise team : Utah Jazz(love the moves they made in the offseason and their youngsters are a year older/more experienced.

The Lakers will get on the same page and win the Finals. Kobe will likely win the MVP if not him the LBJ again even though Durant will probably have outplayed them both.

Harden deal is 5 years worth 80 million dollars... Thats absurd for him.

Kobe's MVP days are in the past. I hope the lakers fall on their face. But chances are they will sleep walk through the regular season and then turn it on in the playoffs. I am hoping to see okc or the spurs win it all. Go small market teams!!!

In LA area Time Warner owns right to Laker games....still negotiationg/fueding with Dish, DirectTV....I cant even watch the team yet! Hope its resolved soon or I may have to ditch DirectTV for TWC.
Lakers have issues. Itsgoing to take awhile to get acclimated to new system with new players...
Harden, another overpaid player (arnt they all?) 37 and 12 in his first game. its going to take awhile to get acclimated to a new system with new players...

The Lakers look like the have ZERO depth. It is VERY early and they are going to start winning games, but they better get & stay healthy.... On the other hand, Kobe looks to be enjoying the game....

I guess the Lakers didn't buy their own hype about the slow start. MIKE BROWN FIRED. Wow.

Dam,
I was hoping the Lakers would wait until after tonight to fire Brown. The Warriors had maybe a 20% chance at best at winning in LA but with Brown gone players usually respond at least for a while. I am expecting the Warriors to now get rolled by 20.

If Phil was up for it, that would be the logical choice.... Wonder if they will make a run at Jerry Sloan?

Phil has to be tempted... not sure that his health can handle another NBA season filled with travel....

Great news. Thank you, should have learned he wasnt the right choice last year. I doubt Jackson will reappear...the triangle will take too long for everyone but Gasol/Kobe/Artest to learn. I think Sloan would be a great choice. I think D'Antoni is high on the list because he is a "player coach" and the obvious tie to Nash. Kobe has been friends since D'Antoni was a european player I think with Bryant Sr. Lakers wont wait long, I predict a decision by end of next week. Nate McMillian on short list too.
Old     (digg311)      Join Date: Sep 2007       11-09-2012, 6:43 PM Reply
They really shouldn't go with D'Antoni... I mean, I know Kobe likes him... and obviously Nash, but still, to coach those four stars, they need a legend, nothing less. Plus... D'Antoni has never been a particularly strong defensive coach, and defense is exactly where they need the most help.
Old     (ttrigo)      Join Date: Dec 2004       11-09-2012, 8:28 PM Reply
The defense should take care of itself. They just need nash to be healthy, and let him do his thing. The "princeton" offense is a stupid idea with nash running the offense.
Old     (deuce)      Join Date: Mar 2002       11-12-2012, 6:36 AM Reply
Almost every talking head on ESPN is questioning the D'Antoni hire.... This is going to be interesting.
Old     (digg311)      Join Date: Sep 2007       11-12-2012, 8:25 AM Reply
Interesting... to say the least. I personally feel like D'Antoni was a really bad fit. They are a strong group, and chances are they'll play better as the get to know each other... so there's gonna be improvement no matter who's coaching. Will D'Antoni be better than Brown ust because of the system? Time will tell, I guess.
Old     (95sn)      Join Date: Sep 2005       11-12-2012, 12:07 PM Reply
D'Antoni it is, I dont think Jim Buss was willing to let Phil back, again. LA should be happy, they will get showtime 2.0 with D'Antoni offense. I think Train is right^^^ Howard is a 3 time def. player of the year, Artest is a defensive player and Kobe can still play D too. It wont look like Phoenix or NY. Right now, anything is better than the Brown era.
"defense is exactly where they need the most help." interesting because mike brown was a defensive coach, but yeah under him defense was terrible.

Phil was rumored to be stunned and apparently had his agent flying to LA to discuss terms...

Interesting move. Bold move. Wouldnt be shocked to see Phil return elsewhere just to point and laugh.

Really good early season win for the Clippers over Miami last night. Was not as close as final score, they were up by 20 in 4th qtr at one point. Thats a deep, talented team. JamalCrawford may be 6th man of the year again. Go Clips!
Old     (ttrigo)      Join Date: Dec 2004       11-15-2012, 11:20 AM Reply
The clippers have two full starting fives they can put out there, and still be competitive. They dont even have chauncey or grant hill yet either. Thats a good team right there.
Old     (95sn)      Join Date: Sep 2005       11-16-2012, 12:28 PM Reply
^^^Exactly. Bledsoe is a starting PG on almost any nba team. Was a mistake for the Lakers to let Matt Barnes get away for a million bucks a year. He was the best sub they had last year and Lakers still have a very weak second unit. Its so bad they must have 1 or 2 starters on the floor at all times. Meeks and Jamison have been terrible, Duhon who started off and on last year cant even get off the bench. Im optimistic the D'Antoni change in offense may make the bench better.

Lakers are back to .500 after going over the century mark and winning last 2 games. All w/o their new coach, their starting PG, their back up PG and Howard still rounding into game shape. KB24 playing the point was 22/11/11, triple double Sunday night, oh yeah, leading the league in scoring too. They also did a 180 and fired Mike Brown and completely switched their offensive game plan 5 games into the season. Laker sails are up and gaining momentum.

eric, nah, i'm not/never jumping ship. i'll always be a lakers fan. i'm just not on ww much anymore. but yeah, they looked bad but they'll come around.

darrel, yes, they went over the century mark but their opponents (mid to lower tier teams) scored almost as much. their defense (or lack thereof) worries me.

I agree Joe, Its very different watching the Lakers now...Lakers high scoring but the other team also scoring right along with them is disturbing. Last night V. Nets Lakers actually played defense nearly the entire second half. After tallying over 50 in first half Lakers held Williams, Lopez, Johnson, Wallace, and Humpries etal to only 33 second half points. That Brooklyn team has a lot of fire power, I think they are top 3 in the east. There was a point in the game where Williams came down 3-4 consecutive times and just schooled Morris at will. Is there a better point guard in the nba than Williams?

Props to Kobe going over the 30,000 point mark last night joining The Captain, The Mailman, The Big Dipper and MJ. Wonder where he will be at careers end? hmmmm. Impressive anyway you slice it.

Must have taken plenty of shots to do it in less games, eh Eric? Still playing at a high level after 16 seasons... and pretty good chance 24 will retire w/ points above MJ and Wilt.

Nope, Jordan was just better...

And If Volume Shooter manages that, not impressed... Jordan took time away to dominate another sport.

Jordan was on the up and coming in baseball. He was the hardest working player out there and was on the rise... Luckily he woke up and went back to the greatest sport in the world.

Jordan is a three sport phenom.

Lakers having some severe growing pains. Going to need some effort to right this ship, long ways away. On the flip side...all the teams they are playing look really good.

I gotta give some love to my Warriors. They are playing really hard and are 3 and 0 on the first part of this road trip. Curry is starting to show some Steve Nash flashes and David Lee is actually making shots in crunch time. The defense is much better. As much as I like watching Monta Ellis play it was important to get him off the team. If Bogut ever comes back they could actually be a good team. As for now I will take the 13-7 start.

This team is pretty fun to watch... As they get healthy and gel, it is only going to be more fun. Think they have a realistic chance at the 4-5 slot...

Those ^^^ young teams are really fun to watch. I think GS's Clay Thompson is a talent too. Your Jazz is young, deep and they move the rock. Old Lakers were over matched by Jazz quickness last Sunday.

Another win for the Warriors last night. Curry is looking legit as long as that ankle can hold up. David Lee has stopped playing soft. Big test tommorrow in Miami. Still even if the Warriors lose the next three. They will have had a winning long road trip which is something this sad franchise has not had in over 20 years. They have 8 road wins already, they had 8 for the whole season two years ago. GO W's

Huge win for the Warriors last night. 5-0 on the road trip now including the win over the Heat. I will officially say the Warriors are for real. Not for real in the sense of winning the Championship. But for real in the fact over being play off team and a team that plays hard. So nice to root for a team with some heart that doesn't just roll over and die. 15-7 looks pretty dam good.

Just got to give huge props to the warriors for making it fun to watch basketball again. Not only are the warriors winning but they are playing the right way. Defense and rebounding. It is nice to see a team that performs better then it's talent. Can't wait to see bogut with these guys. Look out win tonight and they have the 4 seed in the west.

Wow did Dwight get boned by the NBA. $35k fine for the most BS flagrant 2 foul I've ever seen.

Nice to have Nash back, Lakers will be fine once they get into a rhythm with Nash running the point. And MWP is a boss this season

Go Hawks! nice connection, Seahawks and Warriors great for both to be winning. As an LA homer w/ no team...i get to pick a new nfl team every week. Hawks over Skins.
Laker struggles continue. Howards offense seems to be taking longer to get back to form but the teams problem is lack of consistant defense. I need to watch more Clipper games.

The Warriors continue to impress. Curry and Lee are the real deal. They are playing fun basketball right now. I don't think there is a better shooting back court in the league then Klay Thompson and Curry. When they get it going it is just pretty to watch. I think they had a combined 11 three pointers last night.

and then they also have Jack! The Warriors have so much depth. But i would still be very worried if they didnt have Curry.

I love how they really play as a team

Man this topic is dead with the Fakers being so bad. I guess all the LA fans have realized their team is old and injury prone.

The Warriors got crushed the other night. A surprisingly rare occurrance this year. Hopefully they can bounce back because the schedule is about to get tough.

Kings Reportedly Sold to Chris Hansen for $500 million, expected to start play in Seattle in 2013-14.

deal isn't 100% done yet, but it looks as though it will be soon.

I can't believe we might get an NBA team back in Seattle!!

NBA and Wakeworld better when Lakers are good...
Lakers rolling...on the ground after getting stomped on the Texas 2-step. They did play better V. Spurs so now its down to seeing hope in another loss. Not likely the Lakers will even make the playoffs from the hole they've dug. Turning out to be a little different season than expected after signing Howard, Nash and reserves... Jamison, Gasol...pretty disappointing. Will Howard re-sign? Do Lakers want to build around him? His numbers this year are very Bynum-like, although he is not considered 100% after the back surgery. Trade gasol? for?
LA still has the Clippers and CP3 has made the perpetual black cloud go away.
Seattle was robbed so its only fair they get another team. Cheers.

I feel bad for Sacramento... and trust me, I mean it. I lived not far from there (Red Bluff) for 7 years and made several games. I'm also a long time hoops fan who has seen his current city's team stolen out from under it.
In a perfect world, I would much rather see an expansion team come here so that no other fans have to suffer. That said, I think the writing is on the wall for the Kings. I just don't see how the team has a future there. And if it has to go somewhere, Seattle is waiting with open arms.

But yeah, Sacramento definitely deserved better than anything the Maloofs ever did there.

Rich, I don't disagree but several years ago (early 2011) Ron Burkle made an attempt to buy the team and had a precursory deal to build a new stadium in Sacramento. The Maloofs f'd that up as they were still hanging on trying to get the team to Anaheim. I wish that deal had happened.

I was at the game last year when the Mayor and Maloofs announced a deal. Within a day the Maloofs backed out. Best thing out of this deal will be getting that family out of the NBA.

I am loving life. The Fakers continue to look like crap and the Warriors are real deal. Two wins against the Clips and Thunder. I understand they were at home, but 26-15 half way through the season without Bogut is looking pretty darn good. If Steph doesn't make the all star team it would be a major injustice. He has the prettiest shot in the league and has become clutch.
GO WARRIORS!!!

I was so lucky to be at the Warriors game last night. That was an intense game.

I'm anxious to see the All Star list tonight. Lee has to make it.

"The Fakers continue to look like crap" Not quite true. They would have to move two levels UP in order to look like crap. Disaster season.

Jordan playing mind games with LBJ is classic, just classic... That dude would have demolished LBJ in his day.

He sounds like Uncle Rico, old and bitter. Guys that can't leave their glory in the past and give just due to the new guard.....well, it just seems sad and lacks class.

Use to be such a big Michael Jordan fan......& it seems like every year or so, he does something to make me like him less. 'Least he continues to smoke cigars...so he has that going or him.

Answering a question honestly makes you sound old and bitter!? 5 does beat 1... I wish Jordan would have used the correct numbers tho. He really should have stated 2 beats 1. Would have been more accurate.

^^^there is some real truth to that, but we (lakers) have "started" the season 3 or 4 times already and it never lasted more than a week or so. There was the start when they fired m.brown and bickerstaff took over, the dantoni start, the wait for steve nash start, the wait til all the the starters get back start, the kobe distributor start......now its the post Dr. Buss (RIP) era start. I watched Lakers v. Celtics the other night and it was the best of Dwight all year in my opinion. Lets hope this start has some real legs. Go Lakers!

I hate the lakers. But even i was inspired by the speeches from kobe, magic, and others at Jerry Buss' memorial. If that doesnt light a fire under those guys, i dont think anything will work. I think the lakers are going to finish out pretty strong and get into the playoffs.

I guess I will be the lone dissenter and say that the Lakers are not going to make the playoffs. I think they are who they have shown themselves to be. Of course they are currently only 3.5 games out & have 27 to play.... They have some talent, so will win some games....but if I had to make a bet....I say no....
