alright,
I work at a marina and they have a 247 cobalt for taking people out skiing and tubing and wakeboarding. They also do a contest or two a year for wakeboarding. NExt year they are looking for a new boat.

This boat needs to be big enough for 7-8 adults to be comfortable, so 23 foot range. The biggest concern though is which one will not dip the nose. or be most resiliant to swamping. another concern is the rough water ride. my lake get super choppy on weekends and not worrying about waves crashing over the top would help. my 23lsv is not too great in the keeping the nose up department so im looking for opinions on boats that keep their nose up. We also had a 211 SAN and that was a bit small and shallow and swamped too easily.

A boat that has tall gunnels would also be nice.

i know that no wake specific boat will beat the ride of cobalt because of the drastic shape of the v hull but im not a fan of wakeboarding in a contest behind an I/O.

thanks

Most Tige's are very tall and likewise very deep. I would say that on similar length boats tiges will have the deepest freeboard.

F23 Tomcat will not dip the nose, atleast until those points break off...

Tell them to learn how to drive the boat. All boats dip the nose if you don't know how to drive it.

Your best bet is the 25ft malibu. It's huge, great for rough water and I would be shocked if the nose dipped.

MC 280 or X80... A know there a little on the big side, but it has more than decent wake for wake boarding, head, and a wet bar to boot...

as nice as the x80 is it is a bit too big. maybe something in the 23 to 25 foot range. good to know about the tomcat as well. What about the bigger/biggest CC?

Scott, "over 1000 lbs of stereo"? What the heck are you running in your boat?

my centurion avalanche would beat that ride in the cobalt, and i know that b'c i have ridden in the cobalts. The avalanche has step over built in cooler, which actually strengthens the rigidity and ties the whole boat together. no flex, great ride.
If you properly drive the boat, you will never dip the nose.

1000# of stereo equipment?

okay, if a 13w7 weighs 60# alone, that means you're lying.

I gots ta demo a centi then monte. The thing about cobies is that they just cut through the waves because of the deep deep V it has. Im sure the centurion is a super strong boat and i would definately need to demo one before saying anything else. Im confident that i can drive the boat without dipping the nose but it gets crowded on the lake and there are plenty of customers who come out that have no boating experience and keeping track of everything gets hecktic so not worrying about the boat sinking would be a good worry to get rid of.

yea 1000lbs of stereo is quite a bit. lets say 3 batteries at 50 each 4 w7 at 60lbs 4 nvs at 40lbs 8 amps at 15lbs and a head unit at 1lb is still only 671lbs.

Assume your're talkin about Gordy's boats.

Got to vote for a Centurion Enzo. Talk with the guys and girl(Keni) up at the Boardshop. They have owned a Centurion Avalanche (not sure what they're rollin next year) and I"m sure they can give you the low down, but an Enzo would be gret IMO. Huge wide open space, with a Deep V that handles rogh water like a champ. Opt for the bigger engine for sure. DEaler is just outside of Milwaukee up there I think.

X45 and LSv are great though too. Huge and roomy. Can't see how you could swamp a 23lsv. CC's 220 though a bigger boat CC's just take a pounding in the conditions on Lake Geneva, but can't apeak within regards to the 236

And as someone stated earlier, the ICs construction and the built up console area on the Centurions make them bulletproof in the washing machine/wave pool it gets like up there after 9am from the 40ft cruisers.

I have had my Centurion Cyclone a 20ft 8 boat out there in the middle of a Saturday and Everyone stayed high and dry from Fontana all the way to the east end beach. Deep V's rock out there

I've had my MB B52 V23 for a little over a month and have had no nose dipping problems. Granted, I haven't tried to dunk it ( for some reason, it never occurred to me to try :-) ), but I have had a few situations where my Supra SSV would have dunked and the MB did not.
Its got 2500 lbs of ballast, so I'd say it was pretty well weighed down...

If you're are used to the quality of a Cobalt, buy a Mastercraft X-30 or X-45, or maybe the biggest CC (I haven't ridden in it so i don't know).

Yea KJ it is Gordy's and I actually have talked to Jayson about their Avalanch and they raved about the boat but switched to MC cuz the dealer was a poopy head. They sported a x-star 2 years ago and now they run an x-2.

There is an x45 out on LG i gotta find em and ask them bout it. my LSV sits pretty low with 10 people in it ive taken a couple splish splashes no full on tsunamis over the top but still...

The water gets pretty gnarlier from all the cabbies that cruise the lake at 11mph all day and thats exactly when all the tourists seem to want to learn how to ski.

Chris I will for sure take you up on that as soon as i get home in april/may. thanks dood.

I've got an x 45 and feel it handles really well in big water. We have nasty conditions sometimes in AZ and this beast handles well. I can take water over the bow only wakesurfing and trying to take on water by letting off the throttle while coming into a roller. A lot of boats will do it if you're not careful or if you try.

David, we can get you out in an X-30 or X-45 no problem. The 45 would have no issues on Lake Geneva and can hold more people than you would ever want on the boat.
