My music tastes change a lot, but there are a few I always have close at hand or come back to.

... so if I had to pick 5 musical acts - the only 5 I could ever listen to again for the rest of my life what are they???

Mine in no real order

1. Led Zeppelin
2. B.B. King
3. Bob Marley
4. John Mayer (leave me alone - the guy is an amazing guitarist)
5. Jack White (White Stripes/Racontouers/Dead Weather -- all Jack White)

5 is so limited.

1) Tangerine Dream
2) Genesis (Peter Gabrial era)
3) Stevie Ray Vaughn or Jeff Beck (hard to decide)
4) Pink Floyd
5) Me (http://soundcloud.com/fly135/sets/tasty-licks)

I've only been playing guitar 5 years, but I can entertain myself.

I have been fortunate enough to see my top 4 live. Zeppelin reunion in London 2007 being the crown jewel and Floyd on the Pulse tour was my first concert in 95.

Today's music in general...it sucks in comparison.

I was fortunate enough to see everyone on my list...

Tangerine Dream in San Francisco in the early 90's. Pink Floyd on the Animals tour in the 70's, SRV in the late 80's. And Genesis in the late 70's. Unfortunately after Gabrial left but they were still playing all the PG era songs.

I also say Aussie Pink Floyd a couple years ago playing the full DSOTM and WYWH albums. Very professional and the closet thing to live Floyd anyone will ever be able to see again.

I only have one favorite that is always playing. Never get sick of hearing their stuff. The rest of my music goes on rotation depending on how I'm feeling.

O.A.R....!

It's hard to choose a favorite Floyd album...Animals is pure genius and I know that was a hell of a show. Gilmour's lead on Dogs is one of my favorites.

Chic! I'm a relatively young guy but as guitar player and just a fan of good musicians, Nile Rodgers is a hell of a player.

Oh and +1 for whoever mentioned Phoenix. They are one hell of a band
And I'd also mention Phish, as they have such a huge variety of decent and great songs

I'm very eclectic so it's hard to nail it down to just 5, so I'll go with these three for now

The Who
Wilco
Stevie Ray Vaughan

Thanks Jaybee. Incidentally I still rock your 80's mix every now and again.

Van Halen - Have seen them a dozen times starting with Dave on the Diver Down tour.
Chris Isaak - Been listening to him for 25 years. One of those musicians that I like just about every song he writes.
Randy Rogers band - My most recent favorite. Been a staple on my ipod rotation for the last year. "Texas Country" is it's own genre.
The Cars - My very first rock concert back in 1982
Foo Fighters - had listened to them for years, but really just discovered them 3 years ago. Much like Chris Isaak, I like everything Dave puts out.

I found this really difficult to narrow down to just 5 acts.
