Bring on the methods! Good looking methods are underappreciated and much more difficult than many inverts...they can evidently also cost you gold medals in snowboardcross, but stylie nonetheless.

Where's the Randy Harris double up method I've seen on here several times? Couple good ones from wakepics (amongst several poorly thrown or named "methods" search on wakepics):

Umali,

The first pic is very reminiscent of Funk's methods.

Methods are cool, but unless they're done Randy Harris style, they just aren't that special. <<imo>>

Yeah, now that's what I'm talking about....

Joe, I for sure wasn't saying your method isn't legit, because it's definitely solid. I just don't think methods are all that sick. Not sure why, but they don't to it for me. I guess that's why opinions are like a$$es....

say... what ever happened to Earthboard?! I just went to their site, and there is no significant information on wakeboards... I remember they used to be a well-known name

The shot of Randy in Natural Born Thrillaz is the best one ever documented.

looks like a melan to me. maybe it's the angle...
Old     (twitch)      Join Date: Dec 2004       04-25-2006, 8:40 PM Reply
ok so the method is a back hand heelside between the feet with a 180 twist?

just trying to clarify
Old     (westsidarider)      Join Date: Feb 2003       04-25-2006, 8:43 PM Reply
so its a whole different grab jus cuz it wasnt tweaked more?
Old     (garrett_cortese)      Join Date: Mar 2003       04-25-2006, 9:50 PM Reply
A melan is a front hand grab between the feet on the heelside edge of the board.

A method is the same grab, physically, but the board is tweaked around. From the boat, a good method will show the entire bottom of the board and the front foot will be poked down a little. A method is more of a move, whereas a melan is a grab.

Technically, a method is a move, not a grab. There is actually no such thing as a method crow mobe, or a method roll to revert. It would be a melan crow mobe or melan roll to revert. And it is melan with an "A" 'cause it comes from the word "melancholy" which the grab was originally named after, not "melon" like watermelon or my head.

Randy Harris' method from Natural Born Thrillaz is pretty much the sweetest one any of us will ever see.

Cortese, way to get technical. Do you have a problem with methods, GARRETT?
Old     (olddude)      Join Date: Oct 2003       04-26-2006, 6:08 AM Reply
I think you'll have a hard time finding a method grab as sick as this one!!! This was taken at the Performance Gravel Tour Stop.

Craig,

That's a sick grab and I'm not trying to take anything away from it, but I wouldn't really call that a method. Garrett pretty much sum it up on the grab.

Gator can't tweak anymore, he's too old and beat up.... You're right though. Here, is this better?

yeah, I would have to say that isn't really a method. A method is a melan grab with a backside shifty. If it ain't shifty(like Gator's), it ain't a method. Just my .02.Upload
Sorry, had to do it again. Sickest method ever.

That pic is a snapshot of Harris in Natural born Thrillaz. It's one of the biggest dubs I've ever seen.

I think the best methods are done when the board becomes parallel with a flat, not vertical handle position. Many methods are shot from the side, thus giving the appearance that the rider is poking the grab into a method; the truth is a good side shot would show less of the bottom because as stated: the bottom should face the boat, not the shoreline.
