I know this is a wakeboat forum but I thought I would see if any of you guys know the proper way to winterize a four stroke jet ski. My sister has a 2005 Yamaha VX110 that needs to be winterized. How do you get the water out of the engine? Or do you just pump it full of antifreeze? If so how? I am trying to save her the expense of taking it to a dealer. I have winterized my boat (Malibu) so I should be able to handle the jet ski...just not sure of the proper steps. Any advice would be appreciated!
I thought those were self draining. you could always RTFM... there are some good sites for 'skis. We used to have that model. We would change the oil - the filter is under the airbox, fog the engine, remove the batt and lube the cables etc..
I actually am with you cyclone....I have become a big jet ski/water lice hater since I bought my boat. I own a GP1200 that only get's ridden a couple times a year now at the beach while on vacation. They are a blast jumping waves in the ocean and pretty much worthless for anything else in my opinion. I have owned three Yamahas but luckily I was taught to have respect for other boats/fishermen/swimmers etc., by my father. I always steer clear of other folks when I am on mine. Wish I could say the same for the other 95% of pwc operators that I usually deal with on the lakes around here....
We take ours (04 Wake) to a dealer... somebody (not the dealer) told us it's so computerized that pretty much only a dealer could do it??? Since I don't know the first thing about jetskis thats where we have taken it.
