I am wondering if most people monitor their voltage of their stereo battery bank. since deep cycle battery voltage drops as batteries discharge, what is the most common way of monitoring them for discharge levels? I thought about using an inexpesive in-line gauge to keep an eye on the voltage for discharge rates but I thought I would get opinions!

I found some small flushmount LCD voltmeters that I use to moniter my starting and stereo banks. they were only like 15$ a piece and come in different colors. read 0-16V. I will look for the invoice when I get home to give you the website

When we got our boat, it already had a capacitor for the stereo with a digital volt meter in it, so I usually go off of that. My next choice would have been a basic 2 1/16" gauge hooked up in-line like you're saying.

My first choice would have been throwing that capacitor in the lake.

I do. I wired in a 2 1/16" gauge on my stereo panel and my distrobution block has a built in DVM as well.

The gauge on the left is amp temp and the gauge on the right is voltage.

James nice setup, I like that idea.
