Sanger V215 Owners Wake Question?

I have an 07 V215 and I am trying to get my wake dialed in. How are you weighing your boat and what speed are you getting your wake dialed in at?

Right now I am running the stock triple ballast @ 22 mph and the wake is ok but want to get it bigger. Was hoping some V215 owners could share what their setup is.

Weight... I run around 4-6 hundred in led in the bow and 150 in each rear locker. Speed ranges between 21-27 depending on whos riding and what length rope. Check out my profile pic if you want to see what 2.5k of ballast and a bunch of guys looks like.

Scott Ensminger has the setup for the the 215. He runs the Acme 911 prop, a ton of weight, and the wake is one of my favorites to ride.

I can't comment on the 215, but if it's anything like the 230 it NEEDS weight in the bow!

Last weekend I was riding with about 500lbs in the bow and the wake was so much better then last year when I didn't have any in the bow. Really a night and day difference!

^^^^ 2nd that...I have the Wake Series 1 v215 with the center stock ballast. I added 1 440lbs sac to each rear locker and the wake was ok. I then added another 540 in the center walkway up to the bow, and man it made the biggest difference. Better transition. If you have buddies that can spare a few sacs (weight that is) try those first before going out and buying anything. Dial it in, play around with the speed, and pull the trigger on some more weight.

While I am not running the 215 anymore I can say when I did the wake was pretty okay.

I suggest;

600 - 700 in the nose
300 mid ship
800 in the rear (I installed 400lb Extreme sac's)
+ the stock center ballast (about 250 realistically)

I think Scott's is close to the same

still flirting with mine, just can't leave well enough alone. Just got the 911 this year so i can add more weight. Once I weight the sheeeet out of her but had the hole shot with stock prop so I took it all out and with the deployments I forgot what I had in her. Waiting to heal from shoulder surgery last month to tweak a little more this summer also. Don't want to go too crazy but would like to add a little more.

Scott and Andrea's 215 is money... find out what there rocking and you will be dialed..DRA Gary's set up looks good too but never road behind it.

We use stock plus 2 450's in the back and a 650 in the nose. If we have less than 4 peeps we have a 450 on the floor too. Also have 200 lbs of lead weight. Our speed is 22-24mph depending on line length. I ride 80 at 23.5 to 24. The wake is awesome. So thats 2200# plus stock 1100? and people which is at least 200#. So sanger 215 plus 3500# equals loads of fun and we do have an upgraded prop.

Here's what were running:

Stock +
Nose - 550
Mid - 120
Rear - 810

We ride 80 to 85 feet at 24mph to 25mph.

Burn, take into consideration the altitude in Denver. I live in Grand Junction and I use stock plus 500 in the nose and 250 mid. It really depends on how many people I have in the boat. I have had problems getting my boat on plane even after changing out my prop.

Thats allot of weight in the rear Scott. I've always ran more up front in both my Sangers. I know your wake is great from what everyone says and pics I've seen. I'll definetly give your recipe a try. Might be nice to get the nose up a bit lol.

Where is your wake plate set at?

Rich, what would you say a good medium set would be?

coop i thought the same as you and most v215 owners. when i owned mine i ran it super nose heavy. scott and adndrea have it dialed!! there wake is very thick!!!!! it does require a higher speed and longer rope length though. i find that the nose heavy wake is steeper but does not the "GURTH". LOL

Bryan, at what speed,and what do you consider nose heavy? How much more in the nose vise the rear? right now I have 100lbs rear and 270lbs nose on top of stock. I don't want too crazy as I usually have a newbie riding also and I tow about 20 miles right now. No access to lead.

Coop - The wake plate is at neutral I think, I haven't touched it since I bought the boat.

Bryan is right, I found the more weight I put in the nose the steeper and thinner the wake got. Right now its thick and rampy with a hard top - Perfect!

scotty's wake is pretty damn nice...super fun alot like an x-1 wake..

I dont know what medium is, down in Houston we roll heavy, hahahaha. Im probably the lightest weighted boat in our regular crew, which consists of an xstar, two x2's, and a couple of supras.

Have you guys ever noticed that even with a ton of weight in the front if two people sit on the sundeck the 215 will porpise badly.

all boats will porpoise baddly if there is too much weight in the rear and you run too fast...

no more than an additional 1k on top of stock. Ideally I would like to add an additional 600 over stck right now becuase I trailor 20 miles to and from the lake and I have some new people who are learning.

I put Scott and Andrea's weighting in quotes. They helped me out on dialing in my boat. A super shout out to them. I trailer 70 miles each way, so I end up pulling all the lead out of my boat and sticking it in the bed of my truck. Thank god for pop bags. I do leave about 200lbs of lead in the boat. Anyway sorry for posting this twice, but I like rev 2 better.

Dave, right now I don't have time to play with dailing it in because of constant deployments. I know I want a little bigger than right now but not as big as I once had it, 2 years ago and forgot the set up..(I know lame).

Currently I have 100lbs of sand and 2 85lbs water bricks (keep full) in the nose. then I have a 50lbs bag of sand beside each battery. I want to add a little more but keep a good wake. I normally ride at 23.0 at 75ft. Not looking to go further back as I want to work on my inverts this summer. Just got the 911 this spring.

Guys just so you don't mistake how much weight is in the stock center ballast. It is a 500 lb bag but because of where it is and the room it will only allow about 250 - 275lb of water in it.
