Looking to buy a new rope and I am not sure about the new cable coated rope. Any opinions on these? My concerns are being able to tie in between loops, as I tend to switch between 80 and 83 feet. How will that wear on the cable part? Are these ropes really that good or should I just get another jacket line?

Great, great rope. I've put mine through hell and it's still in fine shape.

Cool thanks. So you see no wear issues by tying off in between loops?

If you're trying to ride at 83' you should double up your last 5' section rather than tying a knot in the rope. (that'll get you at 82.5') This will ensure that you aren't causing excess unnecessary wear to your rope.

I find that people who worry about 2.5 feet often have other issues that should be addressed first. Just ride at 85!!! But if you must, do as wake junkee says, it saves wear & tear no matter what rope you ride.

What issues could those be? 80 is too short when loaded, and I don't like the wake at 85. Simple as that.

Blabel, if you like 83', look for the Accurate Catalyst Cable. It is exactly like the A-line (coated spectra), but it has 5 3ft sections instead of 3 5ft sections. That might be what you are looking for. They don't make it anymore, but some shops might still have them.

Actually I do, but they're not with rope length!

LOVE IT. Add the Harf handle and you'll have sweet setup. I seriously wouldn't even give a second thought to 82 or 85 feet. If you can even tell the difference I'd be shocked. Bump your speed up or down .2 and you'll be fine (if you really needed to).
