Need help like the rest

I need a little help picking out a new board. Last summer we really started surfing more than wakeboarding and are now getting into it even more. We currently have a Shred Stixx Piranha. Great board for the whole crew to ride. I’m looking to get into something a little more advanced. Looking for something that’s not ridiculously hard to ride so my wife can still use it as well. I’m not interested in having a custom board made, but I’m not into the main stream LF, Ronix, Hyperlite ect. brands either. I’m 5’6” 150 and the wife is smaller than myself. I do have a buddy that’s pushing 6’1” 220 that will also be riding as well. I don’t have a clue what the difference is between surf and skim boards either. Any help is much appreciated. Riding behind a 06 X45 or an 05 210 if that helps.
