now the dems are complaining that Romney didn't take all of the deductions that he Could have taken. I still want to see just how much the dems that are complaining donated to charity......

http://news.yahoo.com/democrats-poli...-election.html

I bet if Obuma wins, he will still blame everything on Bush and the repubs in 4 years.......

I can't stand this guy
this country won't truly heal till Pelosi, Reid, and Obama are gone......

Strangely, though, it sounds like Mitt indeed didn't take all of the deductions he was entitled to because he'd previously said he'd always paid at least 13%. At least that's what the trustee of his blind trust said?

From the article you linked (thanks for that btw, lots of real info there not partisan hyperbole):

Quote:
They could have claimed more in deductions, said Brad Malt, the trustee of Romney's blind trust, but the couple "limited their deductions of charitable contributions to conform to the governor's statement in August, based on the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13 percent in income taxes in each of the last 10 years."
In other words, he committed the cardinal sin of paying more taxes that he owed, and he did it on purpose.

This really is a silly sideshow. But sheesh, could Romney flail more in the stretch? He's promised so much to so many that now that all of these statements are coming back up, he gets that deer in the headlights thing going and can't seem to come up with semi-plausible politician's non-answers. No matter the words coming out of his mouth, his body language ends up saying "I'm really uncomfortable with the words coming out of my mouth."

As an Obama supporter who isn't entirely pleased with his performance, I really wish we had a republican challenger who'd take the president to task on some of the real issues. Instead it's one bumble after another.

Yeah, but what if Romney won and wasn't able to turn the economy around? Are you honestly saying that you and the repubs wouldn't be blaming "Obuma" and the dems?

I know this was directed at Cliff, but I'll readily admit the economy was tanking when Bush was at the helm. I could, and considered to make some excuses, but to be fair, I'll just say that Bush was in charge of the failing economy. So, in my eyes, Bush must take some blame for what is occurring today. However, Obama takes no blame.

Tell me Jeremy, when Mitt wins and the economy begins to turn will you give credit to Mitt or the wheels that Obama started to turn?

Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol says that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is going to have a tough time winning if the election is a referendum on President Barack Obama’s first term. “If this election is just about the last four y
ears, that’s a muddy verdict." The conservative columnist told Fox News host Chris Wallace on Sunday "Bush was president during the financial meltdown, the Obama team has turned that around pretty well,” he explained.

Bill also suggested what Romney should run on to win. Raw Story (http://s.tt/1o8n4)

It depends. I for one believe that the economy has begun to turn around, despite the efforts of some to try to make me to believe otherwise. For one, I can look at my 401K and Roth IRA statements from January of 2009 and compare them to my recent statements. I mean look at what the NYSE closed at around Obama's inauguration and look at what it closes at today. My tax rate is the same (and I am not against paying more) so no argument there. My home still continues to gain value. Do I wish the economy was better? Yes. I wish unemployment was lower, but I feel that until we get out of the 1950's mindset when it comes to ingenuity, we will always be around 8 to 9 percent unemployment. Do I wish the federal debt was lower? Of course, but both parties should be held accountable.

If Romney answers to this it will only dig his hole deeper. I don't think Americans are that concerned about fixing this crap. I believe we are more in a hands off lets the chips fall where they may mode right now. Which means we aren't interested in "fixing" these other countries. IOW, Obama's cautious manner is in line with the majority to the left of "let's drop a daisy cutter on them".

"Voters are watching, turning on the TV. Embassies are being burned, there are demonstrations in Pakistan. What’s going on there? Why is it happening? What can the next president do about this? Romney should answer that question,” Kristol pointed out."

Two more Romney "gold quotes" .... Does he not know he is running to be President?!

Quote:
60 Min: Is “fair to a guy who makes $50k” to pay “a higher rate than you?” Romney: “yeah.. It’s the right way to encourage economic growth”
I guess he is sort of right... it does motivate to make $20 million a year so I have to pay less

and this one is just grand:

Looks like there's nothing to worry about with Romney and this whole 47% thing. He changed his mind:

It's all good now.

Romney just said the statement was wrong, he doesn't say what he really believes. thats why it took him so long to refute his comment, maybe he believes its more like 48 or 49%
