This is probably a dumb question but I am new to wakesurfing and after trying it for the first time the other day, was wondering why these boards don't have lanyards. Every time I fell the board would end up half a block away. seems like it would be better if you could just pull it back to you.

I have seen some older boards with a "leash" as they call it, but not any new ones. When I was first learning, I would often have to swim after my board also. But then I realized that when you lose the wave or fall, you fall so slowly(most of the time) that if you think about it, you can grab the board and hang on to it with at least one hand so this doesn't happen. Hopefully the same will work for you. If not, you could probably make a leash pretty inexpensively and just put it on yourself.

I have an older Trick Boardz with a leash, not sure if they still offer them. I know that if you have a board custom made you can get a leash plug inserted. I think the concern from some of the manufacturers is with having the leash caught in the prop, but also, it would eliminate doing certain tricks, like a shuvit or body varials, or as I do, riding switch backside every other run, I'd have to switch ankles in the water - I'd rather just swim to my board.

I'm sure you could talk with Jerry Price (Shred Stixx) or Jeff Page (Inland Surfer) both ocean surfers and they'd be more than happy to give you their thoughts on the leash for wakesurfing.
