We Are Set to Open the First Weekend in March!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Get your wet suits ready! We are going to open the first weekend in March - on Saturday and Sunday, March 6th and 7th to be exact.
With the recent rain (and snow), the lake is deep enough to ride safely. We are busy getting the first three obstacles ready to launch into the lake this week:
An adjustable wedge - can be raised and lowered
A fixed wedge
A 50+ foot long fun box with a wall ride
Other obstacles are in the works.... an adjustable kicker and an A frame designed by a pro rider.
Here is the Deal:
We will be operating the cable from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m.
The cost is only $20 (plus tax) to ride that day (for one session or all day)
Rental gear is available, thanks to CWB, Jet Pilot, and Shred Ready
USCG approved life vest and helmet are required
A waiver must be signed by riders and visitors
Come out to ride or watch.... rain or shine, fog or snow
Many Thanks:
To our staff - Josh Potter, Chris Nichols, the Rixen and Cable Wake Parks teams, and what's his name - oh yeah, Dustin Shows, our sponsors, investors, and especially Jeff Baker at Innov8 Action Sports for his help and support. This has been a bit of a challange to get open for business, but well worth the journey.
And to think I originally set out to build a water ski lake.....
Best regards,
Jack V. Farr
President
Great news. A good excuse to get the season started.
We have been getting a lot of emails with riders saying they want to ride, so we will make that happen.
20 bucks for the day, good deal as well.
We still have a lot of work to get finished, but we can get that done during the week and let you riders shred on the weekends.
Thank you to everyone for all your support
Josh Potter is living on lake Granbury at the moment.
He will be leaving sometime in April, he is helping get the park dialed in.
Yes Josh is an awesome guy for sure, we are stoked to have him.
Jeff,
Let me make sure I am getting this right, you guys are going to be open every weekend starting March 6th?
Ryan,
I think March 27th looks good for me. I need to do about 73465271 pull-ups before I let the cable own me.
Old     (innov8)      Join Date: May 2005       02-17-2010, 8:43 AM Reply
John this is the plan.
We will open on the 6th and 7th of March.
If the demand is high and a lot of riders show up to ride, then we will open every weekend.
We have a lot of landscaping and work to still finish during the week.
I will keep everyone updated.
Come on by anytime Ryan, I look forward to meeting you and getting you out in an Epic on some glass as well as on the Cable.
No problem, this isn't really our Grand opening, just a soft opening to get all the riders out to ride and get the place dialed in.
We still have a lot of work to do around the site, so you wont miss the real Grand Opening later this year.
The 20mph north wind I was facing downtown this morning! It's like a wind tunnel down heere though making it feel much worse that it is.
I'm talking about using it on rails, sliders, kicker or whateber you have out there.
Sorry for multi posting.
Adam - Your 1.5 inch surf fins will be fine since you're too scared to hit any of the manly obstacles.
Old     (innov8)      Join Date: May 2005       02-24-2010, 12:29 PM Reply
No wind at WakeSport Ranch today, the lake is butter!!
Adam, correct No metal fins allowed on obstacles.
I am getting pumped, it is going to be sick, the first Kicker went into the lake today.
The Shred Ready adjustable Kicker will go in this week as well.
CGA vest and helmets are mandatory, as well.
Got my Shred Ready helmet at home! Now I'm ready for the Shred Ready kicker!
So the adustable part just allows you to remotely raise or lower the kicker?
What's the water temp Jeff? Drysuit for me please.
So how many people do you think will be there on the 6th?
Old     (innov8)      Join Date: May 2005       02-24-2010, 1:35 PM Reply
Poly fins like the ones on a Hyperlite Clash are ok, what board are you riding?
Yes Eubanks we can adjust the kicker via remote control, from about 3feet to 5 feet.
The water Temp is cold, but we do just fine in a wetsuit, full suit of course.
Well as far as riders go, I have had quite a few emails and phone calls from riders saying they will be there, but I really don't know how many will actually show up over both days, I have received about a 100 email/phone calls.
Old     (eubanks01)      Join Date: Jun 2001       02-24-2010, 1:51 PM Reply
Wow! And just think about all the people that are coming that haven't called or emailed. I hope we get more than a couple of rides!
Jeff we will be heading out in march the 15-21 four of us have our plane tickets bought and five more are saying there going to make it how many obstacles do you think you will have up by then and if you know anybody who wants to take a boat set that week we would be more than happy to kick down for some gas. We'll be sure to bring our full wet suit, vests, and helmets thanks for the info
Old     (innov8)      Join Date: May 2005       02-24-2010, 2:36 PM Reply
Stephen we will have 2 kickers a wedge and a flatbox in the lake For March 6th and 7th
We will start building Hyperlites obstacle pretty soon and Epic boats obstacle as well and we will be adding an incline rail as well.
I will let Hyperlite and Epic boats tell you what they are having us build, lets just say they are both sick obstacles.
Stephen, hopefully you know that the park will only be open on the weekends in March, if you meant May then that's a different story, we should have Hyperlite's and Epic's Obstacle and the incline installed by May.
Eubanks it was toasty in a 4/3 Jp Wetsuit.
We had a rider that rode in a heater top and b-shorts and he said it was fine.
I would bring a heater top for sure and a wetsuit just in case, the water is cold, I dont know the Temp, I just know its cold.
I had ordered some heater tops and wetsuits, but I have not received them yet, hopefully they will come today.
Had a great time at WSR Saturday! Huge props to Jeff for working so hard to get this thing ready to ride. There is definitley a lot of work left, but I know everybody was pumped that they went ahead and opened it up for some ridiing. The flat box is going to be sick! Fun times were had by all. Now it's time to get into cable shape!
Thank you to all that came out to support the park this weekend.
We had a good showing Saturday, we had about 70 riders that rode and we also had a lot of spectators show up.
Yes we still have a lot of dirt work to finish, as well as getting all the obstacles done and in the lake, but we will work hard to get it all done.
Sunday's mud fest was brutal the rain made the walking around a lot of fun.
Nothing like an extra 5lbs of mud on each foot, walking back to the dock and around the facility to wear you out, but we still had riders come out a ride in the rain and mud, thank you.
Looks like we will open up this coming weekend as well for the Spring Break crowd and we will get that flatbox finished and put in the lake this week.
Thanks again to all.
Dustin Shows, Jack Farr,Chris and Josh Potter have been putting in long days and weeks to get the Cable rideable and I want to thank them as well for all the hard work they have and continue to put in.
I will post more info on this coming weekend as I get more info.
Thanks Joe, yes next weekend will be even better.
Here is a calendar, for this month, we will open quite a few days for the Spring Breakers.
http://www.wakesportranch.com/calendar-wsr.cfm
Also we will update pricing, we will have 2hr, 4hr and all day passes for the coming ride days.
Thank you again for everyone's support!!
It was definately cold and muddy but that will change soon enough. I have not been on a board in almost 5 months and still had a good time. BTW I took my wetsuit off and trunked it so it is definately doable for all you wussy types. I suck at cable riding but cannot wait to start getting the feel for it.
Sure, it's doable but you forgot to mention how you were crying and begging for a heater top.
Big Heavy, we will be open at least 6days a week if not 7 come this summer.
If we go with 6 days a week it will be Tues thru Sunday, closed Monday.
I saw a few riders riding in just B-Shorts and a vest!!
