Hi guys,

I'm 5'7" about 180lbs and I'm looking at picking up a Roam or Covenant. First off, they ride similar, any preferences noticed? I've dropped off the boards for awhile so havent been up to date on any discussions regarding these two.

Sizing wise, should I go with the 139 or move up to the larger 143~145?

Knew a guy slightly lighter than me, same height, who used to ride a 139 but I saw him swap to a Covenant 145 the other day. Havent had a chance to sit him down and ask his opinion so I'm asking you all.

I have riden, both a COV 139 and 145. I was not able to spend much time with each board but i went for the 145 because i felt like since it was longer i could get more flex out of it and do tail/nose presses easier. Overall i felt like the 139 Cov was actually smaller than my regular board (138), which is not true. But the 145 felt like my regular board (138)

BTW i weight about 150 and i ride a 138 as my core board and a 145 Cov

I would go for the 145 +

whatever size you ride on a normal board, go to the next size up for the flex boards

buy those suckers big. it's supposed to be like a snowboard, and you'll get a lil more flex out of it if its longer.

second on what Ben said.

and they are a little narrower than the average wakeboard, so a 139 would be smaller than a 138 as far as surface area.

not trying to thread jack, but i have a question abou the boards too....
is there any difference in the shape of the new roam to that of the old one?
the new one is shaped more like a snowboard. does it ride any different from the 05 version?

the snowboard shape still rides loose but when on edge tracks way better. you can press it on the nose or tail better. everything about the shape is better than that old tick tack shape. its easier to flex it more into a press as well.

I went with the 05 because of the price to. Kinda wish a would've went with the newer shape. The tic tac shape is still a lot of fun but it doesn't edge very good at all. Part of that is probably my bad form but either or the new shape is supposed to be easier to ride.

For sure Man you should go for the bigger size. The 145 will be a nice fit for you too. This will still be a controlable board but also have speed and pop, unlike the smaller boards.
