I am faced with a dilema. My Atlanta Falcons are 3-0 and they play Carolina Sunday at 4:00. I had originally planned to go do some riding Sunday, but really want to watch the game. I'am not intending on being a traitor so please no low blows. Do any of you have face this crucial decision?

You can always record the game and then make sure to avoid the radio and people talking about football. Go boardin' while you can.

The falcons really lit it up this past weekend. 6-3 win. That is a baseball score not a football one. Go ride while the water and weather are good, the team will still have 12 more games after to watch. By the way I have seen into the future and Michael Vick will get hurt in 2 weeks (like always) and you will lose 8 out of your last 12 games. Dont kill the messenger!!!! I only report the future

My crystal ball says the same. I feel Vick will have the same fate as Bo Jackson. Both were too athletic to protect themselves.

Come on fellas. I predict Vick going all 16 games and making the playoffs. I will admit yesterday was pretty nasty but hey it is a W. W's always look better than L's.

Lance, it sounds like you need a TiVo! I "TiVo" the Sunday NASCAR race so I can ride. I usually watch it in the evening when I get home. The advantage to recording is you can fast-forward the commercials. And if your team is getting creamed, you can watch the game knowing you didn't waste a day of riding on a c**py game.

Just tune the radio to 92.9 and listen to it on the radio.

John I have been looking at TIVO lately. Guess I need to go ahead and bite the bullet. I'am convinced riding is more important at this point. Thanks for the support guys.

If your game is not until 4 pm, what's the problem? Hit the water at 7 am and get back to house by 3 pm. Here in Dallas da Boys play at Noon or 3:15 pm. Last Sunday I hit the water at 6:30 am and had 5 sets in before 10 am. I had time to have a few beers on the boat and still get home by 12:30. That left plenty of time to wash the boat, take a shower, and fire up the grill all before kick off. You CAN have the best of both worlds!

I watch most of the race. Depends on how well my favorite drivers are running. I also Tivo the F1 races (I'm not getting up at 3:00 AM to watch a race). Other cool things to TiVo: various wakeboarding shows on Fuel Vortec Power Hour Shipshape Boating

I second TiVo! One really cool thing about TiVo is that you can set up a "wishlist". Just give it some key words and it will record shows that have those key words in the program description. For example: give it the keyword "wakeboard" and you will get all kinds of wakeboard competitions that you might not have ever known were on (because they air at 3:00 in the morning....) I also love TiVo for the football games, especially Monday night. I have a season pass (don't do wishlist with "football" in it, there is simply too much!) for the Monday night game. Being on the west coast kickoff is generally about the time I am leaving work, so they are generally starting the second quarter before I get home. No matter, I can start watching the game from the beginning. TiVo allows me to watch the beginning of a show while it records the rest (something a VCR simply can't do). Fast forward through the boring stuff and you will catch up to real time well before the end of the game.

Is TIVO part of Dish Network or Direct TV or is it it's own entity?

if you have a large hard drive and ATI all-in-wonder card (or something similar) you can use FreeVO. its a free program and works as well.

Cool, I thought I was the only one in the US that TiVos F-1 races. But most the time I'm up watching it at 3am any way.

They make several DirecTV/TiVo units. Do a search on the Internet.

TiVo makes two basic units: One is a DirecTV reciever which works GREAT! if you have DirecTV service. With this unit you can actually record two shows at one time. The other unit is a "standalone". It connects between whatever the source of your TV is and the TV, just like a VCR would. If you have a cable box or satelite receiver the TiVo controls the box by either a serial connection or by simulating the remote control. Other companies offer digital video recorders. They are not the same, however. I have never seen any that come even close to matching TiVo's features, performance and ease of use.

I have one of the "other" DVRs. Our cable company is Time Warner and they use the Scientific Atlanta 8000. http://www.sciatl.com/products/consumers/Exp8000.htm I agree TiVo is a better product and has a lot of features.
