I found a 2004 Supra Launch SS (Direct Drive) in great shape with low hours. I know that the direct drives don't have as good a wake as the v-drives, but is it really that big of a difference? I'm an intermediate rider (and that's being nice). Will I notice the difference? Will I always want more?

I have the same boat, and love it! I would say my crew and I are in the advanced category, and everyone loves it. Here's how I weight it: put a 2 x 6 across the rear storage compartment so the weight doesn't stress out the gas tank underneath, then throw a 500 lb sac in the rear compartment. I then use the stock ballast + a 250lb sac in the bow. If you only have a driver and observer, you can also throw 2 side sacs in to really make it big. You can't go wrong with this boat. I'm a huge direct drive fan, they are so much easier than v-drives to service/winterize yourself. Good luck.
