I am thinking that it is time to replace the batteries in the boat with the upgrade stereo.

The stereo has 3 amps which includes an Alpine PDX-M6 (600W), a JL HD600/4 (600w) and a JL XD600/6 (600W) for a total of 1800w RMS. Obviously I don't think I will be running at max draw very much but I am trying to find a nice balance of batteries.

I have 2 batteries with an ACR to combine the batteries when charging.

In the past, I have been using Walmart Everstart start/ deep cycle batteries.

Trying to keep it reasonable. Any thoughts on what I should be looking at.

Check out group 29 batteries, they are slightly longer than a group 24 battery but offer much more ah capacity. They will fit in a group 27 battery box. I've put 5 of the Interstate SRM-29's in friends boats in the last 6 months with great success. One group 29 will give you about 125 ah capacity.

I use the wal-mart batteries. They seem to be pretty good. They are made by Exide.

I think I am going to measure my battery trays and see what I can fit in and go with combo batteries.

My buddy bought one of those Wal Mart deep cycles for his bass boat and he said it had 105 AH. Another option to maybe look at is Costco's golf cart batteries. I haven't looked closely at them but they might be a decent option as well.

x3 for Walmart Everstart. I know, not "cool" or Optima. But my last set lasted 4 years and they are at least half the price of Optima.

Stopped by Walmart and the Group 24 everstart marine batteries are $60 each. The maxx series does not come in a group 24 or 34, both of which will fit. Might have to look at other alternatives.
