Speedometer not working!!!???

I have a 2002 Searay runabout. The boat was just summerized. I put it on the water yesterday for the first time and the speedometer didn't work. All other gauges fine, wiring fine, and all fuses ok. Is there something that they do when they winterize that they didn't do when they summerized it? How can I trouble shoot without taking it back into the shop?

I dont know about your boat but on mine when that happens its because something (wood of debrie)is stuck in the speedo it under the swin step by the prop look in it and see if something is stuck in it good luck

On the bottom front of the out drive is a hole. Make sure that is cleaned out. At least that is where mine was on a 93 Blue Water. Look for mud of a a small stick in ot

A couple things. SeaRay ( Mercruiser ) has the water pickup in the bullet of the out drive. You'll need to clean it out - blow from the speedo side.

I ran a new line and a regular pitot for the speedo. The bullet pickup was too much of a problem.

Also, if it's not using the bullet, make sure the pitot is in the down position. They sometimes pop up.

Must be a clog because all the other gauges were fine. My home lake has an insane amount of debris washed down from the river right now- must be clogged. Thanks guys.

The pitot ( peetot ) is the water pickup for the speedod. Do you have a black or white stick looking thing with a hose running in to the boat on that back by the out drive?

If not, the water pickup is in the out drive bullet.

If the speedo was disconnedcted during the winterization, it simply may need to be reconnected. If it wasn't disconnected and all the water removed, there is the chance that it froze and broke (slim chance, but worth considering if you are sure there aren't any clogs and the hoses are connected). Mine wasn't working at the beginning of this year because the hose got crimped under the dash so that may be another place to check.
