WALove to you still have fresh pow?! I think all of our resorts closed on 4/26 and it was pretty slushy at that point.

DTW - not really cold, but we make Dennis do double duty as ballast, so he has to sit in the left rear corner. It rained pretty good while we were out, so he was just keeping his clothes dry and staying relatively warm by wearing the wetsuit. :-)

The lifts closed down in mid april but we have gotten a couple feet in the mountains since then. Probably 8" last night. This spot was only a 20 min hike from the parking lot. Southwest Montana can get snow any month of the year, but their are no surfable lakes within 200 miles or so. I won't get back to washington until later this summer so i have to get my shred on some how.

Our water on sunday was 44 in the shallow part of the lake and 41 in the deep part. It's one of the deepest lakes in the world, it actually has a navy sub testing base on it!

duffy what time of year do you start to trunk it
Old     (duffymahoney)      Join Date: Sep 2008       05-04-2009, 4:45 PM Reply
It depends on the year, but hopefully sometime this month! I can usually go without a wetsuit at around 60+ and I usually start wearing one again in oct.

Dad, please get a chamois cloth & wipe that lens off.
Old    surfdad            05-11-2009, 3:24 PM Reply
It's EPOXYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! Or at least was. I tried to clean it up, but I think I may have screwed up the lens at this point. I should NOT be allowed to touch cameras! :-)
Old     (notsobueno)      Join Date: Dec 2004       05-11-2009, 3:39 PM Reply
Looks like the lens works fine. Unless you scratched it, should still be okay. Use whatever solvent you have to break down epoxy & rub that stuff off.
Old     (craig_f)      Join Date: Feb 2008       05-11-2009, 3:39 PM Reply
Ah, at this point just throw more epoxy on, go for a holga look!
Old     (notsobueno)      Join Date: Dec 2004       05-11-2009, 3:47 PM Reply
^not a bad idea really.
Old     (bigshow)      Join Date: Feb 2005       05-11-2009, 4:59 PM Reply
Lens have optical coatings. If you use a solvent you may remove the coating and negatively impact optical performance. The the camera or lens is at all expensive call a camera shop.
Old     (hawaj)      Join Date: Aug 2005       05-11-2009, 5:34 PM Reply
You can't get rid of epoxy, especialy when it is on (probably) plastic lens. You scratch it and destroy coating. Just NEVER EVER touch you lens. For cleaning is best air blower, (camel) brush and lens pen with dry carbon.

James & Jeff, for background, I was the driver of the dark side boat at the WWSC here in Nashville last year (e.g. James' "staging" boat). Well, My wife and I were in Napa & Sonoma all last week celebrating an anniversary. I saw a few signs for local lakes and was wondering if you guys were near. Since the southeast has been socked in with rain for weeks, I was envious of the nice weather out there all last week. I'm hoping to get our Enzo out this coming weekend (alas, prediction says 78 & 40% chance of storms ).
Old    surfdad            05-18-2009, 5:08 AM Reply
Yes Patrick we remember you. You were exceptionally pleasant to chat with while waiting. I know that Judy specifically thanked you. Isn't the Napa area beautiful? Lush green rolling hills in the early spring. We are directly east of that area by maybe 200 miles.

Congratulations on your anniversary! How many years for you two?

James, yeah the water is so beautiful there you can easily see 25 feet deep. It's glacier fed so it's damn cold though.

Goofy side is never as clean for us. Plus at Folsom, the size and shape of the wake changes with every roller that comes through, which is every couple of seconds.

Don't tell me! Let me guess. Blunt nose, twin fin, logo placement, looks less than 5' - is it an EB56?

Thanks, it was a very fun wave/day.

You're close, Corey's is his custom board though. I believe its close in shape to the 56 though with some tweaks, i think its a 4'6" but I'm not positive.
