We recently bought our first boat - an '03 Launch, and it still has the stock system in it. Where is the stock sub usually located, and where are some other "standard" locations for a DD boat?

Thanks!

I'm in the process of making a sub box to act as a step for getting into the boat. similar to the pic.

The guy I bought the boat from had a box behind the drivers seat and a box under the footwell. Not sure where everyone else is putting theirs.
I'd like to see some pics though.

This is in a v-drive, but they should be very similar.

The factory location is on the driver side kick panel. It's a free air set up and leaves a little to be desired for sound. It looks great but needs to be enclosed in a box.

I also have a factory Polk sub and enclosure out of a Nautique behind the observers seat. IMO, it sounds great.

I have a JL Audio W7 10 inch behind the wall at the driver's feet, like Adam's 3rd picture. I had an enclosure built to fit the space and it's firing at the hull.

I've got the same setup as David with a W1 12" and ported box. Sounds great, but when it is really hitting, the dash vibrates. Anyone have any ideas to fix this?

There's a small gap between the dash and the deck, right near where the windshield mounts to the deck. You'll need to fill that gap with some foam, dynomat, or similar.

pwork, Mine is the same way. I've psoted anoher thread a while back on here on the same issue. What NAW said will work, then something else will start rattling. I've used dynomat type material and lots of rubber washers. My newest issue is the sterring wheel is starting to vibrate and maek nosie along with the trin lever. The whoel supra dash is plastic on mine (04 SSV) and wasn't very solid to begin with.

Interesting. Our '03 DD has a lot more space before the wall @ the driver's feet. That's where I'm thinking I'll install. I'll probably build a custom enclosure and an additional false wall. Any good suggestions on where to purchase carpet that matches?

Thanks Neil, I'll go get some of that tonight, going to install a four channel amp under there to power the 4 interior speakers in the back, might as well do that at the same time. I'll chase down the vibrations one at a time until I get sick of it and just turn down the sub!

Hey NAW,
on the 04 Launch, is there a wall that covers up the heater under the drivers seat or is it all open from the factory? I'm trying to figure if previous owner took down the wall to install a cheap sub or if its original (its all open right now)

here is my setup on my launch 21v, same dash as launch. It's an abnormal box vented and a trim panel that makes it look better than stock.sorry, the lighting is terrible on the finished product. I've ran into vibration issues when I turn it up, I jam a empty water bottle between the dash and windshield when I'm bumpin, I've got dynomat, but it can't keep all vibes away.

Dan, I also have a box exactly like the one you posted. There was a very noticeable difference between that box and the one I currently have. The sound (volume and quality ) is much better with the ported setup I currently have. Sub firing up. It creates more of a bandpass effect.
