When i plug my ipod into the aux input in my malibu i'm only getting sound out of the speakers on the right side of the boat. the stereo works fine the rest of the time. Anybody got any ideas whats wrong?

Swap the RCA's and see if it reverses the speaker output. If so, then your chord is bad.

Here is what crutchfield told me when i asked them the same questions:

The problem with the marine application is that the receiver does not have enough to drive the portable unit you have. I would recommend either replacing that stereo or adding an amp to the system to make it louder. If you can let us know what type of speakers you have and what type of power they can handle we can make a recommendation on an amp for you. I hope that helps.

If you're stereo works fine the rest of the time then I don't believe you would need to add an amplifier although I could be wrong. My guess would be that you have a bad cord or connection. If you can find another cord I'd try that. I definitely agree with flux that you should switch the cords around and see if it switches the side. When you use your iPod with headphones do you get audio out of both channels?

I think that the cord is the problem because the same thing happened when i plug it into my car.

Bad chord, cheapest thing to replace.
