I had one amp. Wired positive (fused of course) to my stereo battery's pos. terminal and negative to my stereo battery's neg. terminal. The battery is literally a foot from the amp, and the wire runs are very short.

I'm now adding a second amp. Aside from aesthetics, is there a reason I need to run power and ground distro blocks or can I just wire up a second fused power lead and second ground lead to the same terminals on the stereo battery?

You can run the leads straight to the battery terminals no problemo.
