Been wakeboarding for about a year and a half now and have alot of basic tricks done (180s, grabs, 360s, riding switch) Now im working on a HS Backroll, from some pics of myself and what everybody is telling me is im not getting any air when doing this, ill get upside down and just lose it from there. Ive worked on keeping the rope close to my front hip when rotating but I just cant seem to get air when do this. I ride behind an 11' Axis a22 with 3k ballast and wedge. I always get sick air doing anything else but this backroll. Could use some help guys! thanks

Get an MB, they come stock making everybody do at least a backroll for 1/2 the price...

seriously though, probably going to need a vid of you attempting it so we can see what you are doing in order to give you some pointers. or post the pics you have if you don't have a vid.

Follow all the steps in this video and you will get it i promise. The pro in this video (Kyle) was recently at my buddy's lake house and on his boat and when all of his drills are done within 5 attempts he had a clean backroll.

Short, I'm talking 10 feet, Hard Progressive Edge all the way up the wake...

just a guess, but you might be throwing them too soon/ hard. you might not be riding all the way up the wake before initiating the rotation and flipping close to the water getting little height.
the vid above is nice. also might check out my backroll sequence- its pretty close to text book.
handle close to hip like you said, knees bent a bit, looking over lead shoulder. this is not a trick that has to be hucked. it feels kinda like riding around a tube of water as if the curve of the wake continued into a loop. in my opinion.

First I want to see this sick air on everything off a wake with 3k of ballast. 2nd, you gotta wait for the pop. Sounds like you're taking off in the trough. Ride all the way up the wake and don't "throw it". A wake that big my biggest concern would be slowing down the rotation.

Makes sure you're doing the following:

Reaaaaalllly progressive edge
Handle in tight to the hip on your approach
Wait until the top of the wake to throw the trick (sounds like where you're going wrong) ... throwing it early will make learning this trick really tough, throwing it off the top of the lip will make it super easy.
Throwing the trick is like doing a backwards cartwheel.... when teaching people I usually say front hip up to the sky and your head to your back shoulder is the motion you want.
Try and spot your landing
drop trailing hand if you can't keep the trick straight in the air
