Got hold of Ameratrail and finally broke down
and got the right trailer for my Toyota S22

The trailer I got with the boat was a freebie and actually a single axle for a 21" DD Toy. Mine is a 22" V-drive. I had stacked the bunks three high and extended the bow stop [to both]clear the fender and slide the boat forward to get some weight on the tongue. It got me to the boat ramp for a whole year but was a bi-atch to load and a bit scary to tow. Never took it more than a mile away from home.

I'm really looking forward to taking some cool trips with the new one. I hear the Swannie river is really nice in the spring!!!

Here are some before and after pics:

Sandy,

Looks great! That's got to be a big change for the better. Where are the speakers?!!

You missed the maiden voyage yesterday, and there will be no ridng today since the weather sucks!

The boat is even better than I had hoped, which I'll probably detail in another post somewhere...

As a result of the crappy weather, I'm going to be squeezing the VLX into the garage this afternoon. Then it's off to Home Depot to get a few items to organize and store the toys!

Sandy, Looks good! Question, is that tower from Quality T Tops?

I can't believe I ever towed the old trailer.
It was so mismatched to the boat, just loading
it was scary.

Jon, the wake is big and rampy when weighted
with more weight in the bow it can be made
steeper. The only challenge is the wakes width.
Its wider than any other boat.
I have buddies that ride behind every boat out there, and they say my wake is comparable to any of them. Its all about positioning the weight.

Mike,
Yep, its a Travis built tower. Its made
of all 3 inch tube. Still haven't seen another
tower made with 3' I think it looks stout.
Its strong as hell and prolly will never make
a squeek.

Brad, the tower speakers are only up
when we're riding. I don't like to announce
the fact that I have major stereo equipment in the boat.

That trailer looks much better than the old one. I think your whole setup looks great.

Sandy, are you selling the old trailer? I know someone with a 19 footer that may be interested.

I traded it in. Its at Ameratrail in St. Cloud
FL. I'm sure they would sell it cheap. He had
no idea what he would do with it. He made a point
of telling me he pretty much had no use for it.

It is a solid '99 trailer with brakes, just didn't work too well with a 22ft V-drive.

Sandy, I think he might buy it. Ameratrail wants $1000 for it. Just curious what they gave you for it? I was thinking Bruce should talk them down to $750 because its gonna take about $450 to get it galvanized (sandblasting and hot dipping).

Also, what condition was the trailer? Any big rust flakes internally?

The trailer is in good shape but it doesn't look too pretty. There is no rust but the bunks
are stacked three high and the bow stop has been
extended. (needs to be cut back down.) Also, the fenders are dented. The rims are also a bit dull.
They did give me a nice deal on alum. rims. $80 each.
See if you can get them to refurbish the trailer.
They have everything they need to make it like new including fenders.

So it would be for Bill's old Malibu F3 ??
Funny! Small world!

Yep, that's the boat. Much has been done to it.

Bruce has replaced the floor, re-carpeted, new stereo, bimini top, complete buff job, new Malibu graphics coming soon.

That boat throws a mean wake eh?
Old    oldschool            03-27-2003, 8:41 AM Reply
I am biased because I own a Launch. The wake is big, but when it's big it's very difficult for me to get it to maintain speed and steer properly. That was another thing he fixed was the steering. The assembly at the dash was all broken up.

Yeah I drove that boat a bunch.
the steering did need a little somthin'-somthin'
