Well my wife and I have decided it is time to get a new TV. We are looking at something over 60inches that is not DLP. I have a pioneer elite and love that TV. I have heard the developers from Pioneer left and went to panasonic so I am going to look at those. Budget is between 3K and 4K. If anyone has any suggestions or info that would be great. Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike, my brother still loves the Elite's as far as I know. Give him a call if you want some input. He could also help out with ordering and install if you need it. He owns AVID home theater and is located about 10 minutes from you guys.

His name is Micah (925) 260-2288

Thanks Evan I will give him a call for sure. Right now I am just looking for the TV and cabinet but in the future I am gonna want the theatre deal. Hopefully he can let me know how to get prepared for that in the future. I had everything pre wired when we built the house.
If you ever make it up to tulloch let us know.

I just bought another "TV" and love it - I went with a projector and screen and soooo glad I did.
I had a 37" 720p lcd, 40" 1080p" lcd, 50" 720p plasma, and 65" dlp 1080p and just wanted something else 1080p and amazing so after looking around went with a projector setup.

I picked up an Optoma HD20 for $800 - its full 1080p HD -- blows all my other tvs out of the water as far as picture quality - takes up almost ZERO space too
110" screen, ceiling mount, 40 ft HDMI, 40 ft. VGA, and 40 ft. Comp cables all for $280. So total package I'm in ~$1100 and it is AMAZING!

If you have a room that you can get dim (doesn't have to be black) I usually watch with a light or two on in the room it looks great..... 60" is good, but double it for less money is the way to go.

My current basement setup at school is my 50" plasma and the 110" screen so we can watch TV and play video games - or have two games playing at once... i
would strongly recommend looking into that

Projectors are getting popular now, too, but like Nick said, you really need to be able to dim the room which is not always easy to do in a normal viewing environment. Some of the installs that my brother does involve a LCD or plasma and a screen that can be lowered in front for movies or games. That way you have the best of both worlds. Big screen when you want it and a nice bright TV for regular daily viewing.

Yeah this TV is going in our family room so I want something that is just going on the wall. I have huge bonus room upstairs that I am gonna turn into arcade/poker /theatre. That I will probably put a projector in and kind of make like our lake house. The wife has told me the family has to resemble more of a normal room. I am gonna talk to your brother next week.
Also I am selling a Jurrasic Pinball machine to finance some of this so if anyone is looking for a pinball let me know. Thanks, Mike

I've never been a huge fan of Vizio, but my neighbor just got a 60" plasma and it's mounted on his wall. I have to say it's pretty nice.
I run a 62" samsung dlp 1080p in my living room. bulky, but I love it.
