cheap and easy boat weight?

Anyone know some cheap and easy things to use to weight our boat. After working with concrete this weekend i was thinking a bunch of 80 lb. bags, but I've heard of other things

Fat friends that bring beer.

We have that...theyre not reliable, and the beer disappears too quick

sand bags...but that can be messy

wheel weights.. shops will give them to u all u have to do is melt them down into kinda container

Mikey concrete would work one of two ways, wet it so the bags dont break, or buy cheap tubs and pour like 65 lbs of concrete into the tubs, then its easier to move around.

get 5 gallon buckes with covers and fill them with wet sand...

Mikey. Weighting down your boat is not only expensive because it costs money for the weight, but it burns about 3x the gas, and remember it will be harder to drive a weighted down boat, so before you throw all the weight you can into your boat, read this, http://www.wakeworld.com/Tricklist/TrickTip029.asp, esp step 3.

sand bags, like 3 bucks from home depot/lowes, then put them in tough plastic bags. The only thing is they're like 2x the size of steel shot of the same weight, but a fraction of the price in the end.

sand wrapped in plastic as already brought up. 3 bucks for 50lbs U can't beat that..

Rubbermaid tubs, just get a few and dip them in the water...... twenty bucks and you're set.

Seriously... anyone looking to sell some pop bags? I need about 400lbs as I need to get rid of some water weight for additional storage. If you are in the area (or the delta) send me a PM.

we go to the tire shops and ask them for their used tire wieghts. they are lead and weigh alot wile taking up little space. then all you gotta do it melt it down or even easier and safer is put them into a jug or bottle with a cap. we used to put them in clorine bottles from the pool. either that or get 4 inch pvc and caps for either end.

attila- i have one pop bag. hahaha. doesnt help much and i dont know how i ended up with it. i dont even own a boat.

My buddy take 2 50 gallon drums and places them on both sides of the ending in the back where the seats are supposed to go and then has a bilge pump that has about 8 ft of hose on both ends that he sticks on the water and in the drums and plugs the pump into the Lighter of the boa to run it and fills up the drums. IT is so ghetto, but man it works great!!!!

mikeyt: i'm guessing you live on a lake or river? if not, take it from a guy with experience...too much sand or lead weight can be killer on your tow rig if you pull your boat out every time. i used to carry about 500 extra pounds of sand in my malibu (along with all the gear and gas, etc) and believe it or not, my little f150 could definitely feel the difference....especially at the pump. i've also heard of instances where too much lead on a single axle trailer can do damage there also....just some things to think about before you stock it full of lead and have to tow it every time. good luck.....

eric, i do live on a lake, tow it once to put it in att he beginning of summer and once to pull it out at the end...I've used large bins in the past, but my experience is that the water makes them bow out and the covers don't fit, and water gets everywhere..having redone the floor once I'd like to avoid the water idea..an 80 lb bag of concrete is less than $4 so i was thinking a bunch iof those wrapped in plastic wrap..thanks for the suggestions

the drums thing is great because we turn the pump around at the end of the day and empty them.

well living on a lake does make a difference. you might go the sand bag route because you can kinda shape them under the bow seats and such.

Stop by Krispy Kreme and offer free boat rides.

just scrolled to the bottom, but get on ebay and buy a water bed blatter. we have a queen sized one in the back of the boat filled most of the way, plus we throw in two fat sacs up front....wake is super firm and large. the queen mattress was like 30 bucks.

try some old intertubes and fill them up with water
