I need a new helmet. I am looking at the Pro Tec, Capix, and Bern helmets. Which one is the best?

I don't know about the others, but I can say that Bern makes a very nice comfortable helmet.

Which Bern helmet are you referring? Is it the one that Chad Sharpe is wearing?

I have a bern, and I also have a rather large head. Bern is comfortable, so Bern for the win.

I have all three hahah, my capix kept giving me bloody noses and black eyes, i didn't think safety equipment should cause more injury. And my pro tec the neoprene fell out to much. And i love my bern its super comfy.

Most of the bern helmets are the same, just with a different style. It really comes down to whether or not you want vents, a brim, or not

Pro-Tec skate helmets, not the wake style. So comfy.

I've got the Hyperlite by Bern helmet, and I really like it. Comfy, and well built.

You might also want to look at Gath helmets. http://www.gathsports.com/ My principal concern right now is ear protection. I bought the Gath convertible surf model and it seems to be pretty good; it's comfortable, light and I can hear pretty well with it on. I haven't tested it out with any serious falls yet. From the pictures, however, the original Gath surf hat looks like it would provide better ear protection

The Bern helmets from Hyperlite also have ear protection. They don't have the Brim on the front like this picture, but the ear protection is the same design. Very comfortable.
