I noticed some of the installations of the EQ's have the faceplates and knobs protruding past the dash.

How well do they hold up to rain and other water?

I thought about trying to mount mine where I can slide it back under the dash when not in use.

Not at all if they are built like my old Soundstream EQ. That said my old EQ went through a rainstorm at Shasta and got soaked. I had to pull it out, pull the top, then dry it with a hair dryer before it would work. Continued working for 2 years.

Those EQs will take a good lick'n and keep on tick'n. As long as they are not out in the rain all the time.

But there is always a chance that 1st time it gets wet, it quits on you.

That would be the one you sent to me, right Mike?! :-) haha that is awesome! I accidentally shorted it out trying to mount it with a long screw and pierced a capacitor. Oops! Now I have the EQS746 too. Thanks though!!!

It had bare circuitboards inside the box and should not get wet. Only $50 though...

WakeMikey,

You have my second one, it was the nicer of the two. I thought the first EQ was bad and bought another one but my problem was something else. I still have the first one in a box somewhere. Too bad you didn't PM me, I would have sent you the other one FREE!

I got a little water on mine and it started making funny noises. I pulled it. They are cheap to replace.
